The final day of January

It isn't raining, there isn't much wind, but it is cold (33 degrees) and it is GREY. Totally, totally grey. The sky looks heavy, almost snow laden but we are not predicted to get snow here. It is a day for hibernating indoors.
I had hoped to be getting on with the painting in the living room but Simon did not bring the paint home last night as B&Q didn't have any! They say they only keep 2 tins in stock and they won't have any now until Friday! How crap is that? When you consider that it is going to take 3 tins to paint our small living room doesn't it seem a bit odd that they only keep 2 tins?
We searched online last night to see if there was anywhere else we could buy it but it seems that B&Q are the only retail outlet. It is a Graham and Brown paint and we could get it direct from them but delivery is expensive and would be a week. We were worried though that when Friday comes around B&Q still may not have it so we searched some more and eventually found an online company called Paint Direct who have it at 20% discount which makes it cheaper than B&Q even with the £5 postage! We ordered it and they say within 4 working days so I am hoping to get it on Friday.
We have decided to go with the original colour choice for the chimney breast. I used up the paint sampler tin last night to check what it looks like and how far it would go. We reckon 4 sample tins should be enough which will be a lot cheaper than having to buy the 2.5 litre tin. Simon is, hopefully, picking them up on the way home tonight so I should, hopefully, be able to get the chimney breast done tonight. The rest is going to have to wait until the weekend.
I had a phone call this morning to say that the sliding glass doors for our wardrobes will be delivered next Monday. That is good news as it is faster than we thought and they will be here in time for half term. Simon has one more week to work and then he has a weeks break. Loads planned for that week! Including a visit to the dentist for us and a visit to the vet for the dogs annual vaccinations.
Hopefully we will be able to get the living room finished and a start made on the wardrobes. Simon is also itching to begin on the garage extension. He is currently bidding on some prefabricated garage sections on Ebay. The existing garage is a Compton prefabricated sectional building and the plan is to extend it to double the size. If we buy new it will cost about £3000 but buying second hand will hopefully be only a tenth of that. He is going to build a pent roof for it from scratch and he also needs to sort out the base then it will need electric and heating. It is a big project.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I started this at about 9am and it is now 2.30pm. I have 2 updates................ I have just been in the garden with the dogs and it is now 3 degrees so very cold and still very GREY but hey it isn't raining.
I bid and won the garage sections for Simon. I got them for £310 so I am dead chuffed. I knew that he would forget! The auction ended at lunch time and he said he would bid then but his lunch time finished ten minutes before the auction and when I checked I could see that he hadn't bid. We wanted to leave it until late so the price didn't get pushed up. He did bid £200 last night and it immediately went to £250. Anyway, I hope he will be pleased. He will now have to organise a small lorry as they weigh about 5 tons! Another job for half term.
I'm off to do some sewing now.
