Friday the 18th

Friday rolls around again and yet another weekend is on the horizon. I do like weekends! This one will be a good one as it is little Flynn's 2nd Birthday tomorrow and all the family will be there to help him celebrate.
On Sunday we are thinking that we will go up to see my Mum and my Dad. My sister always takes him to the hospital on Sunday but she and her husband just went to Mexico yesterday. I hope they are having a great time. They did try to find a single room so that I could go with them but it wasn't happening. I shall just have to make do with dreams.
Today I have to move myself early as I have to get the bus to town so that I can go to the bank and have them transfer a vast amount of money to our solicitor ready for when we exchange. I hope the bank don't mess it up this time. Remember last time that they “lost” it in cyber space! I also hope that this time the solicitor will not have to return it to us!
While I am in town I am going to get some craft bits and pieces. I need felt, beads and buttons to make some cute little brooches that I saw on a website the other day. I also need to get some bias binding to finish off my quilted Sofa throw. I was going to make my own as Denise has shown me how but I don't have the fabric and I'm not sure that I have the time either.
Talking of the quilt, I managed to cut a hole in the back of it yesterday! I was removing those stupid little plastic tags from the tacking gun and accidentally snipped it. It is only tiny but I think I need to try and do something about it. I am thinking of making a patch that I can embroider the date on and then attaching that over the little damaged bit!
Oh, just remembered, I forgot to say yesterday.................I didn't lose any weight this week. Not even a quarter ounce! I suppose since I have been a bit lax that I should have expected it really. I must do more exercise. I haven't yet tried out that Wii thingy that Coralie lent me. I wish there were more hours in the day.
Over this weekend we are going to begin filling in the forms for Simon’s phased retirement. He is going to drop down to 4 days a week from next year. That is the next school year, so we are talking September not January! He will keep all his responsibilities. They say if he gets the form in before Christmas they should be able to give him the day of his choice. It's all to do with time tabling and as they don't start work on the time table until January there shouldn't be a problem. He hasn't decided yet between Monday or Friday. He wants a 3 day weekend.
The phased retirement plan is that he will do 1 year of 4 days a week. Then he will do another year of 3 days a week........he will have to give up his responsibilities then and just be an ordinary teacher. Then the year after that (July 2013) he will retire completely. Well that is the plan! He has said that maybe if 3 days suits him he will do longer. He is not retirement age yet. Teachers still retire at 60. He will be 58 when he retires. I think it is long enough. Doing it gradually allows us to get used to the idea and also to accustom to less money. He will not take any pension until he actually retires so we are going to have to get used to way less.
I'm not worried. I'm glad. His health is an issue as you know. We have lots of plans. I think that although he won't be teaching he will still work. We may do something together. He is very good with cars as you know and good at making things too so I suspect we may end up with a little cottage industry or the like. We shall see.
My goodness, just realised the time, I need to leave by 9am! Got to fly..............................
