Our weekend

Well it has been a REALLy busy weekend! Yesterday morning we were busy cooking our contribution to the buffet meal we had for my Dad. We left here about midday taking Flynn with us. We were going to take Evan but for some reason he didn't want to go early!
We went to the hospital first to see my Mum. We were only there an hour but it wasn't a good visit. She was asleep, unconscious what ever you want to call it, the whole time. My Dad insisted that we couldn't wheel her up to the lounge but remain in her bedroom. She was asleep in her chair so we could have done. I hate being shut in her little bedroom. It just makes me feel awful, trapped, claustrophobic...........I don't know. It certainly wasn't good for little Flynn either although bless him he managed to amuse himself in a space of about 3 feet square for a whole hour.
You know, I always worry when I go up that it will be the last time I see her. I will hate to have that picture of her in my head...............the way she is now. I know that is the likelihood though. After all she is never going to wake up and be “normal” is she. I hate it....................every time.......never gets easier, just gets worse.
We took my Dad with us from there to my sisters house where we had most of the family gathered for his birthday and Christmas celebration. We do this every year now as he insists on spending Christmas day at the hospital with Mum. He will be 85 on Tuesday.
We had a great time with lots of lovely food and of course drink. Here are a couple of photos. I will post an album, time permitting.
Today we have been busy getting on with the packing up of the house. I would estimate we are about three quarters done. It looks awful. I am finding it all a bit sad and distressing. I want to be in the new house now. I want the next few days to fly by as I hate being in my house seeing it look all so empty and strange.
Lots of things are missing. Simon took the large 3 seater sofa and the armchair to the dump today. All we have left is the small 2 seater sofa. Hence, I am upstairs laying on the bed with my mini lap top! He is sharing the sofa with Alfie and Loulou who are very disgruntled as neither of them have enough room! They have found today’s proceedings very unsettling. Anyway the sofas have gone and the room looks bare and empty.
We are going to have new furniture. The sofas were very old and had been ruined by the dogs. We have looked around and have our eye on a nice corner suite with chaise longue. However we don't want to buy it right now as we think it will be a better price after Christmas in the January sales. So we are going to make do with our small sofa and Samuels old one which is also small. He had a new one back in October and kept his old one for us. We will probably have to make do for a couple of months as delivery times on furniture are often about 6 weeks. We will manage. It will be nice to have new.
My dishwasher also went today. The new house has a built in one so ours was not needed. It was old anyway. I put it on Freecycle as we had to get rid of it before Wednesday. I had lots of enquiries for it. A lady with 6 children came and got it today. I hope she gets a few years more out of it. It does work fine. So..... we shall have to wash up the old fashioned way for the next few days!
Simon is now trying to catch up on some school work and I am catching up on blogs and enjoying a well deserved glass of red. I shall be on tenterhooks tomorrow morning until I get that call from the solicitor to say the exchange has happened. I'll be sure to let you all know.
