The theme for today is: 26. A Merikan car or other foreign made car. Well in the past Simon has had a couple of Merikan cars. This photo shows the car that he had when I first went out with him in 1977. I know it is Merikan but can't remember what it was …...... a Pontiac maybe?
That is Simon sitting on his trial bike. He has his leg in plaster. He broke it hang gliding! As he landed his foot slipped down a rabbit hole! That was right before we started going out together.
He has a Buick right now but I don't have a photo. Besides it has been modified so not sure how authentic it looks.
I remember the first time we visited Merika which was in 1979 and I was amazed at how large the cars were compared to ours. HUGH. Of course back in those days we weren't all so concerned about petrol (gas) prices. Or not in the way we are today.
Actually Merikans were furious as gas had just turned $1 a gallon. As we left for our trip to Merika it had just reached £1 a gallon in the UK. In 1979 there were $2 dollars to a pound so we thought your larger gallons were a real bargain!
Verity and Steve had a Merikan car for their wedding. It got lots of interest! I can't remember what this one was either!
Tomorrows theme is: 27. Something green and square.
