Well there we go, that's another week gone. They are going by so fast. Only 26 days to Christmas!!! In theory only 16 days until we move house. Some of you already know that there are a few problems with that right now. Buyers solicitor is raising one enquiry after another which causes delays. We are just absolutely desperate to exchange the wretched contracts so we know where we are and can get started on all that needs to be done. Please send positive thoughts, vibes, prayers etc.....AGAIN!
We still have a lot of health issues going on right now too which is yet another worry. Simon has been doing OK but is due for his 8 week injection on Wednesday and it is showing. His memory is slipping again and he is tired. Hopefully he will pick up again once we get past Wednesday.
We had a busy but enjoyable weekend. Saturday morning we went to the auction at Wisbech. We enjoy going there as it is always interesting to see what is for sale. We had no intention of buying....... so how comes we ended up coming home with 4 things???
Actually we were dead chuffed. We first of all bid on and won a weather vane. I have always wanted a weather vane. It has a large cockerel on it. Simon is going to mount it on the new garage roof. We had better move because we have no where to put it here! Later in the auction a cast iron welcome sign, door stop and bell came up and as they had matching cockerels to the weather vane we bid on them too! We won! They are going to look great. We think we will mount the bell on the side of the house so that if we are down the garden we will hear it. Really had better move!
I was going to take photos to show you but Simon must have been in a super efficient mood because by the time I got around to getting the camera out he had packed them all up and sealed the boxes!!! You'll have to wait.
Saturday afternoon I went to the hairdressers to have my hair cut and coloured. Grey be gone! I am back to a brown / blonde for the next few weeks. Saturday evening we baby sat for the boys while Coralie and John went to a party. We had dinner with them and got to do bath time and bed time which was fun. They were very good. Not a peep out of them once they had been tucked in.
BEFORE
AFTER
It looks quite dark here so I'll show you another.........
I had a lazy Sunday morning while Simon had a few hours at his barn. Sunday afternoon we drove up to Stevenage and met my Dad at the hospital. My Mum didn't look too good and was asleep most of the time. It is very sad to see her this way. I do feel that she is not going to be around much longer. Dad is OK.
We went back to his house afterwards just for a quick cup of coffee. We of course came home laden down as always with heaps of goodies. On top of the normal case of wine, 12 jars of coffee, various joints of meat, steaks and toilet rolls; we also had loads of boxes of chocolates and Christmas sweets plus special Christmas biscuits and other goodies. He had also found a really good Thomas the Tank engine learning toy that plays music and alphabet games etc. The boys will love it.
They have a ton of Thomas the Tank stuff all of which has come form Great Granddad Alf! They love their Great Granddad Alf or Grandalf as Flynn sometimes says. My Dad gets these bargains from his local charity shop which he always calls “Harrods”. It's quite funny when people ask where something came from and we say “oh, my Dad got it in Harrods”!
Today I have been busy with house work as nothing got done over the weekend. I am all up to date and the house is clean and tidy. All the ironing is done and I have even done my banking. Oh, and I walked up to the post office to post birthday cards to Sam and my niece Carly. Samuels' birthday is tomorrow but we won't be seeing him, hence the need to get the card in the post.
I also popped in Sainsburys for some vegetables and ended up coming out with a new pair of leggings as well. Tonight I am hoping to finally get the binding finished on the sofa quilt that I am making. I have 3 sides done now. I messed the 4th up and have had to unpick it.
Right, I had best go and see how my bolognese sauce is doing as Simon will be in soon and I need to get the pasta on.
