DPT for today is: 13. A scar. I have 3 scars. An appendix scar and a scar on each wrist. The appendix scar is a long, thin, white line that goes right the way across the top of my pubic bone. I was 16 when I had an operation to remove an ovarian cyst and they removed my appendix at the same time. In those days it was a big cut. Nowadays I think they can do it with just a tiny incision.
The scars on my wrists are from operations to repair the ligaments. When I was a teenager I had a spate of breaking my wrists. The left one twice and the right one 3 times. This caused nerve and ligament damage. Both wrists have been operated on twice. They will probably need to be done again at some future date although I have avoided that so far.
This photo is the best I could get and is the scar on my left wrist. I'm not sure that you can see but the scar has a row of dots on each side which are from the stitches! They were not done very well. In the summer when I have a tan they stand out like a sore thumb.
Today has been a lazy day. We got up quite late and then sat around chatting. Simon has now gone to play in his barn and I have been doing some sewing. Guess what? That cushion pad that I got yesterday is too big! It is the third one that I have got that is the wrong size. Admittedly the first 2 that I got in Ikea were bound to be wrong as I hadn't measured it. This time I did..........14 inches square..............that is what I got but it is too fat. Absolutely no good at all.
So this afternoon I have made my own from an old pillow case and some left over wadding. It worked well. The cushion is part of Flynn's birthday present. I have also made him some bunting and a big floor cushion.
Another thing that I have attempted this afternoon is to fill the floor cushion inner with the bag of polystyrene beads........................ It has made me grumpy! Feckin things! I have filled about a twentieth of the cushion. I have little white beads all over the floor. How on earth are you supposed to do this?
I made the inner cushion and left a gap of about 6 inches to fill it. That makes it impossible just to tip them in. I started by getting a bowl with a lip on, scooping up a bowl and trying to pour them in. Didn't work as most went on the floor. I then found myself a nice big cardboard tube which I stuck through the hole and I thought that was working until I realised that the tube had come out and I was pouring them through onto the floor! An elastic band sorted that out but I am still ending up with more on the floor. I think I'll get Simon to do it. After all with his technology back ground he must be able to come up with an ingenious way to do it surely?
Off to get a cup of coffee now. Have a good week all. I may be around, may be not. Depends how the fancy takes me.
