The real work has begun

Finally the serious work has begun on the garage extension.  The mini digger arrived last night and Simon played outside quite happily until about 10am.  I was rather perturbed to find that he is digging the end of the garden rather than the area behind the garage but apparently there is method in his madness.  Well so he says!

He has cleared all the rubble and hardcore from one half of the end of the garden where the wonky patio was.  That is down to bare earth which seems to be clay which isn't great.  He will then take off the top soil from behind the garage and put it on the area that he has cleared.  Then the hardcore will go in the hole and then he will do it all again on the other side.  Something like that.

As far as I can see it doesn't look much different this afternoon from what it did this morning. He seems to just be pushing earth around but what do I know?

We have just had a bit of luck though; Stuart who lives next door has just got home from work and told us that his Uncle Richard who lives next door but one said that he would come and help....for free. He apparently knows what he is doing!  I think that may have been Stuarts way of saying we have been watching you and having a laugh!

Anyway, all help is gratefully received and Stuart has gone off to tell his Uncle yes please. This may help to get it done sooner. I am expecting Sam to come up shortly with the girls as Ellie is quite excited to see the digger.

Back later, I have sewing to do
