31st December 2008

Well it’s hard to believe that the last day of 2008 is finally here.  It seems like only moments since this time last year.  I hope you have all had a good one and I thank you all for sharing your life with me over the last 12 months.
To a non blogger it is hard to explain the wonderful friendships that blogging creates and how great it is to share our stories with others. Over the last year I have shared joys, heartaches, laughs, sorrows, anger, knowledge, confusion, ideas, jokes and I have had some great “rants”!  It’s a brilliant place to air my frustrations and know that nobody judges.  It’s also brilliant to have so many people sharing in my special moments and sending their good wishes.
2008 has been a pretty good year for us.  There have been highs; Simon finally being able to leave The Voyager school and start his promotion at The Academy.  The long awaited birth of our grandson Evan.  Verity qualifying as a teacher and beginning her first term in September. Saskia and Joshua beginning at University.   Watching Sam and Lisa enjoying Ellie as she has grown into a real little toddler with her own personality.  Those are just a few.
Of course there have also been low points.  The normal stresses and strains of family life that we all have.  Watching the ongoing deterioration of my Mum and seeing how much it has changed my Dad. There was also the very sad loss of my Uncle Ron in October.  He is very much missed.
What do I hope 2009 will bring?  Well that’s a hard one to answer.  I think the best I can say is that I hope it brings us all “enough”.   I hope that we are all happy and healthy and that we have the strength to bear whatever arrives at our door.  I hope that we end the year with everyone we care about still with us.
Am I making New Year resolutions?  NO!  I hate resolutions, they never last.  I am going to be starting the New Year with some plans and some hopes. I am planning on taking better care of my health and fitness this year.  I am hoping to finally begin a half day of voluntary work at the Sue Ryder home.  I am going to try and find the time to indulge in more of my hobbies.  I have great plans for making all kinds of things, which ties in with my plans to be a bit more “thrifty” in my lifestyle.   I am planning on using my garden patio containers to grow some vegetables this year. I am going to try and continue to cook at least one new thing each week. I am also really hoping that I will be able to complete the “Moon walk” in May and raise plenty of money for breast cancer research.
My year will be changing in March as Coralie returns to work part time and I will have baby Evan 2 days a week.  I’m sure it will work out fine and I will get a lot of enjoyment from once again taking care of a little one. Who knows by this time next year he may not be alone.  Pure speculation, I’m not trying to tell you anything!
It is certain though, that I will not be returning to work as I will have more than enough to fill my days here at home.  I hope that they all turn out to be happy ones.  Whatever 2009 may bring, you can rest assured that I will be sharing every moment of it with you all!
