Well some of you have noticed that I was missing for 4 or 5 days last week. Things are a bit fraught here right now. I have lots of things to worry about..... Some of you know, some of you don’t but it is not really stuff that I want to put on here right now.
I’ll do you a quick catch up.... Thursday I was looking after my 2 grandsons Evan and Flynn. Mummy was sleeping in the morning after her night shift then she had a hospital appointment in the afternoon. I had no sleep the night before so I was tired and anxious and stressed. Were the kids good? Well Flynn was! Evan was a little monster! I guess they pick up on how you are feeling.
On Friday I was once again at Coralie’s house as my sister and my niece Carly had come up to see Coralie and the boys. Coralie is making the wedding invitations for Carly’s wedding which is this September and they wanted to finalise the design.
We had a nice day and the boys were good. Evan loves seeing Julie. He was a bit miffed that Pete wasn’t with her! He loves Pete! He doesn’t see Carly very often maybe just twice a year so he doesn’t know her as well but he seemed to like her reading his books!
This photo of Julie was taken by Evan!
Saturday was a bit of a wipe out really. I had very little sleeps so I was even more tired than normal. I spent the day pottering around the house. Simon went to the allotment in the morning and did some more digging. In the afternoon he went to his barn. Josh came home around lunch time. Some old friends of his are going off travelling the world for a year so he came home to see them before they leave.
On Sunday Sam, Lisa and the girls came over for a while to see us and Josh. Ellie had great fun playing with her uncle Joshie and didn’t want to go home. They had built a tent in the toy room and she was very upset that Daddy ruined it whilst getting her out!

Sam had some good news. He has work again, albeit just on a temporary monthly contract. On Thursday he had 4 job offers on the table. He eventually settled with one from Fairline. Fairline are the company that he went to when he left school. He did his apprenticeship there and worked for them up until 7 months ago when he left for a job in Bourne where he lives. That is the one he got made redundant from.
Fairline make the big expensive yachts’ that you see in marinas all around the world. In fact if you see one or are even lucky enough to have one (you will be very rich!) that is less than 14 years old then the chances are that Samuel was one of the team who made it.
Fairline are only taking on people at the moment on rolling monthly contracts. Sam’s old foreman told him that they have work and that in fact he had heard that these may become permanent posts. There is no guarantee though; he could be out of work again in a month’s time. I don’t think there is job security anywhere now.
He will work there for however long it lasts but will be looking for something closer to home (it’s an hour’s commute each way). It is one worry removed from my head at least for now.
Yesterday was my day this week for looking after the boys while Mummy was sleeping. They were very good. My friend Ed came to play in the morning and Evan had a wonderful time. Coralie was back from her sleep earlier than usual as Rosie had kept disturbing her by crying and wanting to go out. I arrived home to find a poo and wee incident! It took forever to get cleared up and to get all her bedding in the wash.
Luckily I didn’t have to worry about cooking dinner as Simon had promised to do it for me as it was Valentine’s Day. He cooked a really tasty paella and we had treacle pudding and cream for dessert. He does do a good paella and it is one of his favourite meals. I would actually have chosen a different menu but hey....it was only Valentine’s day... at least he got what he likes to eat! Yes, I know, bitchy and ungrateful! I did get nice roses in the morning.
Today I have been working my half hour system so that I could get plenty of “Me” time and also get my chores done. It has worked well and I don’t have much left to do. A bit of ironing and the dinner to sort out is about it. I still have several hours before Simon will be home. He is going to his barn tonight so I may even get time to do Chris’s blogging jar from last week. I really will be caught up then!
Tomorrow I think I might take the bus into town as I need to pay a visit to John Lewis (department store). I need some poppers for the fastening on my bag and some more buttons for monkey eyes. Our sewing lessons are tomorrow evening.
Right, I am going to make myself some coffee and turn the heating on. I am freezing! A few days ago Simon set the timer from constantly on, to timed. So it comes on about 6am and goes off about 10am. Then it comes back on again at 6pm until 11pm. I think he has forgotten I am home all day! I keep having to put it back on! It is such a grotty horrible day here, cold, grey and pouring with rain.
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day!
We need it to stop raining and to be dry for a few days as we want to get our onions and garlic planted at the weekend, not to mention getting started on the willow dome. We can’t do anything if the ground is still soggy.
Right, let’s get this heating turned back on before I get frostbite!
