It’s photo thingy whatsit time! Today it is: 27. Your favourite shoes.
I’m so excited I don’t know where to start! I am a SHOE girl! Oh yes! I love shoes. I think it may be because they are easy to buy.
Unlike clothes you don’t have to strip half naked in a cubicle with a load of young, slim nubile things. Unlike clothes you don’t find yourself inexplicably stuck with a dress wrapped somewhere round your neck. Unlike clothes you don’t have to get help to remove a pair of jeans that are stuck somewhere around your knees and how the heck you even got them past your ankles is anyone’s guess. (I have to interrupt the flow to just say the jeans incident didn’t happen to me but to someone I was with and I laughed so hard I nearly had a middle aged lady accident).
Unlike clothes you don’t have to spend 12 hours searching the shops just to find something that will fit. Unlike clothes you don’t get home only to look in the mirror and find you have made yet another expensive mistake. Are you getting the impression that I don’t much like clothes shopping? You are right.
Now shoes, they are a whole different ball game. I have small dainty feet. Anything I try on fits and looks good. They are not clown feet that look ridiculous in certain styles. They are small feet that look good whatever I throw at them.
Actually there is one exception but I learnt it long ago so it isn’t a problem.....ankle straps! This is nothing to do with my feet but to do with the fact that I am under height and my little legs only go up as far as my bum and not all the way to my arm pits. Unless you are 6 feet tall with those kind of legs that go two thirds of the way up you, do not want a shoe that cuts you in half at the ankle. Well unless you want to look even shorter. So no ankle straps for me which is no big deal anyway. I think they are ugly and always make me think of prostitutes. Not that I have any experience of them you understand. I think it is a stereotype in my head.
Good heavens I have written 3 paragraphs and haven’t even got a photo in yet! You are in for a treat! I couldn’t possible decide on a favourite so I am just going to have to show you a selection. I bet you can’t wait for this!
Let’s get to it.
These are my favourites for going out in the evening. I can hardly stand up in them but hey they look good!
These are my favourites for comfort. They are Fit Flops. I got them this summer. They are the ones that are supposed to give you a work out as you walk. They tone up all those bits you want toned up. Hmm.... ....they don’t seem to have worked. Maybe I should return them and ask for my money back as they haven’t lived up to the advertising promises. They are very comfy though.
This next pair of sandals I wore at Verity’s wedding. Ellie likes them because they have jewels on them!
Talking of jewels this is another pair that Ellie likes. They are very old and I always have bare feet when I were them so please ignore the disgusting look of the insole! You can’t see that when I have them on and they do still look nice.
These gold sandals I had to go with a dress which I wore to the leaving party when Simon’s school closed down a few years ago. I can’t walk too far in them.
These sparkly silver ones are another favourite of Ellie. They are quite casual.
These are my red ones. I love these as they are comfy. I have several red pairs of shoes and several red pairs of sandals.
This metallic pair is also comfy so I wear them quite a bit. They also go with a lot of things and look good. Very flattering style too.
Lastly these flat black ones are my current favourites for walking to the shops and other casual day to day activities. Actually they are not good today because we have the dreaded snow. Today I will need my new boots if I go out.
Goodness who would believe that a blog on shoes could be so long! None of my shoes are expensive. In fact quite a lot of them come from department stores like Marks and Spencer and even supermarkets like Tesco. I am not a bit spender. I would not fork out an exorbitant sum for Manolos or louboutins even If I won the lottery. I am not that kind of girl.
I also keep them until they wear out as you will have been able to see with some of them. LOL. I never usually have socks or tights on except in the very depths of winter so they always look disgusting inside too. You really would not want to see my trainers!
I would tell you how many pairs of shoes I have but I think that is probably information that I don’t want Simon to know so I’ll leave it! In addition I also have a vast flip flop collection. When we go on holiday Simon claims that half my suitcase is taken up with footwear. But, what can I say; a pink bikini needs pink flip flops. A blue swimming costume needs blue flip flops. A green pair of shorts....... well you get the drift!
I think I had better stop now. Not sure if any of you will have even bothered to read this far! I am looking forward to seeing all of your favourite shoes. Gosh my life is So exciting!
Ok just for your information, tomorrow’s photo challenge is: 28. Your parents.
