Alfie

Alfie is home after his operation.  Thank you to all those friends who have asked after him.  No thanks to my family members, none of whom have bothered to phone me at all!  Anyway................
He had his operation yesterday morning and it went well. They did unfortunately find 2 other smaller lumps nearby which may or may not be connected. This meant that he had 3 lumps in total removed.  The wound is very large.  It has 22 stitches on the outside alone and goodness knows how many internally.  The vet said he has triple stitched it because it is so large.  The internal ones obviously dissolve but the others will be taken out in 2 weeks time.  The lumps have been sent away to the lab for analysis. Please keep your fingers crossed that it is not bad news.
When he came home last night he was still very drugged up and woozy.  He slept for most of the evening.  He had padding and bandaging from his neck down to his tail which the vet said would probably slip and if it did we could remove it.  Simon took it off this morning as it had slipped around so much he couldn’t walk.
He cried for about half an hour last night at bedtime but was then ok.  Today he has been crying on and off all day. He has pain killers but they can only be given to him once a day. When Simon gets in and the dogs have had their dinner we will give it to him. I hope he will settle down once Simon is home.  I hate hearing him cry and not being able to comfort him.
He goes back to see the vet on Saturday morning just to check that things are ok.  I hope he will be a bit better tomorrow.
