Autumn's Passing

The grass is brown,
covered in leaves.
Freshly fallen,
painting the yards with rainbows.
Covering roof tops,
filling up the eaves.
Bright and vivid,
like roses in bloom.

chimneys releasing,
the sweet smell of burning wood.
As the Sun sinks lower,
in the steely gray skies.
You know winter,
will soon commence.
Autumn will soon say,
it's good-byes.

winter's sleep will claim,
the mighty oak.
snoozing,
til the dawn of spring.
When the Sun removes,
its cold winter's cloak.
once again,
the birds shall sing.
