Back again! I’m doing well. I have done all the ironing and I have another set of those covers in the washing machine. I forgot to say that I can’t put them in the tumble drier so I have to drape them over radiators over night which is a bit of a pain. Still they will all be done soon.
I have added another layer to the head and body of my snowman and I think once he is dry he may be ready to begin the next stage. I also added a card board bottom to him. While I have been having a quick cup of coffee I have added a few new photos to my October photo album. Have a look there are some cute new ones of baby Evan.
The Snowman head and body.
Has anyone else been keeping up with the Strictly Come Dancing show? I have really been enjoying that. It is rare that I watch anything at all apart from Eastenders. I have been most entertained by John Sergeant, who if you have seen the programme, you will know is quite an elderly man. The oldest contestant they have had so far, I think.
He can’t really dance but he was trying hard and he was very funny. Unfortunately all the bad stuff the judges kept saying week after week was just getting him more public support. This week he actually dropped out of his own accord. In a statement he said that he knows he can’t dance, but felt that he actually may have been in danger of winning and that would be a joke to far even for him.
There have been many reports that he was actually forced out but I think that is unlikely. I don’t think he would have accepted that. He seems to be quite a principled man, so I think he just did feel that it was all getting out of hand. He danced for the last time on Saturday and made me laugh when he thanked the judges for the wonderful PR job they had done for him!
Personally I think he should have stayed in. Sooner or later he would have ended up being in a dance off and then the judges could have voted him off in the proper fashion. All that was achieved as far as I can see, is that one of the others ended up going out a week earlier than maybe they would have done.
Jodie Kidd went this week, which I think was right as she isn’t that great although she was trying and I wish I could do half as good! Of the ones left, I like Christine Bleakly because she is just such a nice girl, but I don’t think she’ll win. I would like to see Tom Chambers win as he is very good and also looks very sexy! So there you have it!
I’m actually taking a quick break to have another coffee at the moment. I am half way through my hoovering and once that’s done I am going to check my recipe for tonight’s dinner. It’s a new one that uses lamb steaks, couscous, chick peas, dried cherries and.... It’s quite expensive so I hope it turns out ok. I’m going to post a few of my recent recipes tonight.
My coconut cake disaster! They look a bit better once I had cut the remains into squares. Tastes delicious!
Alfie thought they looked good and was rewarded with the crumbs
Did anyone notice that my previous post was titled Wednesday 25 November? No wonder I feel like time passes quickly and that I never have enough of it when I keep losing days! I have corrected it now! Obviously it is the 25th but it is Tuesday!!! Durrrrrr. That word is one that you Merkans have given us.... Durrrr!
Since it is Tuesday it must be Tuesday Thirteen time! I am lacking inspiration however, so I am going to just post something that I found way back. A list of 13 English signs around the globe! It is quite appropriate as we have been discussing English language usage. Seems In countries where English is not the first language, funny signs abound:
1. In a Tokyo hotel:
Is forbidden to steal hotel towels please. If you are not a person to do such thing, is pleased not to read notice.
2. In a Bucharest hotel lobby:
The lift is being fixed for the next day. During that time we regret that you will be unbearable.
3. On the menu of a Polish hotel:
Salad a firm’s own make; limpid red beet soup with cheesy dumplings in the form of a finger; roasted duck let loose; beef rashers beaten up in the country people’s fashion.
4. Outside a Hong Kong tailor shop:
Ladies may have a fit upstairs.
5. In a Bangkok dry cleaners:
Drop your trousers here for best results.
6. Outside a Paris dress shop:
Dresses for street walking.
7. In an Austrian hotel catering to skiers:
Not to perambulate the corridors in the hours of repose in the boots of ascension.
8. In the lobby of a Moscow hotel across from a Russian Orthodox monastery:
You are welcome to visit the cemetery where famous Russian and Soviet composers, artists, and writers are buried daily except Thursday.
9. In a Paris hotel elevator:
Please leave your values at the front desk.
10. In a Yugoslavian hotel:
The flattening of underwear with pleasure is the job of the chambermaid.
11. In an Athens hotel:
Visitors are expected to complain at the office between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m. daily.
12. On the menu of a Swiss restaurant:
Our wines leave you nothing to hope for.
13. In a Japanese hotel:
You are invited to take advantage of the chambermaid.
I thought they were all pretty good. It is not surprising that foreigners have trouble with translation since we English speakers seem to have so much trouble with it ourselves. Okay, off my butt again and back to the grind horse!
