You know you must have had a busy week when you haven't managed any blogging time!! I haven't been able to find much time since Monday. I have been reading blogs though, but as per normal I can very rarely comment. Sometimes all it will show me is old ones from February or March. As I have received new comments on some of my old blogs this week, I am assuming that my page is also doing the same. One way to sometimes get round it, is to go in via the top page and then click on "more" underneath the current blog. You sometimes have to do it several times, but I have found that it will (mostly) display the current blog!
Tuesday turned out to be very busy as I had to take Coralie to see the obstetric physiotherapist. They had requested an emergency appointment for her about a week ago and on Tuesday morning she got a phone call to say the appointment was in 15 weeks time!!! Unbelievable! Coralie pointed out that her baby is due in only 11 weeks, but it didn't make any difference.
She was still in constant pain so we tried to get a private appointment, but to no avail. Coralie then phoned her own midwife who promised to see what she could do. The next phone call from the midwife had reduced the appointment time from 15 weeks to 3 weeks, much better but still pretty crap. However only about 10 minutes later there was another call to say get here by 1pm!! I think somebody pulled some strings somewhere along the line, maybe her consultant.
It's pretty disgusting when their own staff are treated like this. The original plan was that they would admit her as an in-patient, so that she could be seen during the ward round by the physio and then later discharged. Thankfully when we got there she was just seen in the department. It was all a bit of a rush as Simon had the car and he had to come home from school, then I drove him back, then picked up Coralie and we finally made it in time.
The obstetric physio was very, very good. She did some massage and manipulations and fitted Coralie with a special belt to help support her pelvis. She thinks Coralies problems are worse as her pelvis is actually twisted and the right hip is rotated further forward than the left one! She will see her again next week and Coralie is also to have some hydro-therapy sessions too. Anyway, Coralie reported on Wednesday that she was finding it easier and less painful to get around.
On Wednesday, I looked after Ellie from 1o.am until about 3.30pm when Lisa got back. She was a real little angel again. She is walking more and more now and into everything! On Thursday, I had a very full day. Verity and I went up to Stevenage to see my Mum and Dad. We went to Dads first of all for a quick coffee and to collect a push chair that he had got me for Ellie. I need one to keep here in our house.
Then Verity and I went to see Mum at the hospital as Dad was going to come on later with his sister Jean and her husband George. Mum was fine although she had no idea who either of us were. She did eat quite a lot of cake while we were there and drank a whole cup of tea, which was great. Dad arrived about half past two and we just briefly had a chat with my aunt and uncle before leaving to come home.
We were just in the car about to set off when we got a phone call to say Coralie had collapsed and been admitted to the delivery suite. OK............ Don't panic! Just drive nice and steady and get there as soon as possible. Unfortunately luck was against us. There was a terrible accident on the A1 that had us sitting stationary for hours.
It was on the horrible bend just before the Black Cat roundabout. It's a nasty spot with a big bend to the left and then immediately to the right. You can't go too fast. It must have been a bad accident as I have never seen so many emergency vehicles; 3 fire engines, 7 police cars, 4 ambulances, another fire engine that said specialist rescue on it and a police incident investigation van. It turns you cold to think of the poor people involved.
We finally got going again and managed to get to the hospital about 6pm. Fortunately in that time John had managed to get there too, so she wasn't alone. When I arrived they had Coralie on a drip and were waiting for the results of the blood tests they had taken. They assured me that baby was OK, but they didn't know what was wrong with Coralie. I think they had her on the delivery suite just in case! The tests were negative but they did discover that her iron count was really low so they have concluded that is what made her collapse.
I was supposed to have gone to see a show at school on Thursday evening but had to miss it because of Coralie being in hospital. Luckily though Coralie was home and we were able to go and see it on Friday evening. I spent Friday trying to catch up on jobs as Verity's boyfriend Adam was due to arrive about six. Simon collected him from the station and then we went off to see the school musical. It was very good. We saw Saskia briefly but she was back stage when we arrived and then she had to go as she teaches dance on a Friday evening. She did get back before the end though to see what we thought. She had taught a lot of the dance stuff for the show.
Although I was busy on Friday, I was on tenterhooks all day...... Simon had a job interview at the Thomas Deacon Academy. This was the school where he had an interview a few weeks back but the post went to the internal candidate. Simon was encouraged by the head of college to apply for this other post of head of key stage 4 & 5. I think he was a bit iffy about it because they turned him down before.
Anyway the outcome was that he got the post and he is thrilled. He will start there at the beginning of the new school year in September. I'll do a post on the new school soon.
Yesterday was spent in catching up with more jobs. Simon did the shopping in the morning. He also had to go over to Saskias to try and sort out her washing machine which had broken down. In the afternoon we went to look for a new roller blind for the kitchen as the old one had broken and wouldn't roll up. We didn't get one though as we couldn't find anything we liked. Simon has now done a temporary repair job on the old one to give us time to look around.
Today Saskia has come over along with her washing to put in my machine as hers still isn't working. I have been busy doing jobs. Later on we have all of the family coming as we are having a meal this evening to celebrate Veritys birthday which is tomorrow. She will be 24!!! It's not very often that all of us are here together, it usually ends up with someone missing. I will try to get some photos. Simon is busy cooking dinner which is beef wellington, plus all the trimmings. I am keeping out of the way and letting him get on with it!
Verity and Adam are going back to Southampton tomorrow morning and of course everyone else will be at work so I can hopefully get back to normality! Maybe get in some proper blogging time! Anyway, that's the catch up on my week, and as I said at the beginning it was a busy one!!
