Catching up

Photobucket
Thank you everyone who sent me lovely birthday wishes on Friday and over the weekend.  No I didn’t forget my own birthday!  I just didn’t have time to post myself the birthday song until yesterday!!
Friday was a quiet day to start off, as everyone was either at work or Uni.  Saskia was the first home after lunch.  Then Josh came back from Uni with Charlotte.  He stayed for the weekend.  Coralie arrived about five with baby Evan and then Lisa came with Ellie.  Sam had to work so he wasn’t here and Verity couldn’t get up from Southampton as she was home just last weekend.
Simon and Saskia cooked a lovely meal of steak in prawn sauce.  One of my favourites.  Coralie had made a delicious chocolate and orange cake which had homemade orange curd in the middle.  I must ask her how she makes that.  I was very headachy, I think possibly because I had spent too long at my computer.  I didn’t do any work all day...just played! The meal was lovely though and when everyone had gone home, I went to bed for an early night to rest my head.
I had nice presents.  Samuel made me 2 bird nesting boxes for the garden, Coralie got me chocolate from the Hotel Chocolate shop that I blogged about recently.  She got me pink champagne truffles and a bar of dark chocolate with chilli and orange!  I haven’t tried that yet but the truffles are lovely.  Verity got me the B movie on DVD which we watched over the weekend.  It’s brilliant.  Just my kind of film, feel good animation, no violence and a sort of message!
Saskia got me a lovely big spring form cake tin and a Lush bath bomb.  I haven’t tested out the cake tin yet but I broke the bath bomb in half and had a lovely bath on Friday evening before the meal.  I think I’ll have the other half this evening.  Josh got me a whole box of lovely smelly things.  I had some money from my dad.    Did I get my mixer?  That is the question everyone is asking!  No I didn’t, I’ll have to treat myself to that!
Simon had arranged a birthday treat for me though.  He had got us tickets for “Hairspray” in London on Saturday at The Shaftesbury theatre.  I’ll tell you all about that in another blog later today.  It was a memorable visit!
Yesterday we went up to Stevenage with Saskia to visit my Mum.  My Dad has been in Weymouth for a few days visiting Mums sister June and her brother in law Ron.  Ron is very poorly, he has pancreatic cancer and Dad wanted to go down to see him.  My sister and her husband took him down there.   He was desperate that Mum had some visitors over the weekend as he worries so much about her.  She of course, had no idea at all that he hadn’t been in but Dad still doesn’t seem to get that.
Anyway we had a good visit with her and were able to sit outside as the weather was lovely.  Before coming home we popped in very briefly to see my niece Carly and have a quick coffee.  I don’t see her very often so that was nice.  She was selling some Chinese bits and pieces that her Dad has imported.  I got myself a lovely umbrella and a couple of bracelets.
When got home Josh was still here.  He had decided to wait and have dinner with us before going back to Uni.  We had roast beef which was lovely but it ended up being quite late as it took longer to cook than we thought!  I watched the result of the strictly come dancing show and was pleased to see that Jessie Wallace was knocked out.  I don’t like her she seems very arrogant and they say in the papers that she has been very nasty to other competitors behind their backs.  I missed the actual show on Saturday because we were in London.
Today I am home alone until about half past nine tonight.  Saskia is staying in Leicester with some Uni friends tonight as they are going to see some performance.  Simon has a parents evening so won’t be in until late.  This means I have lots of time to get things done and I have lots of things to get done!  No house work has been done here since Thursday!!!! Think it’s time to get started on my half hour system!  Back later!
