Coralie and Johns Wedding

Coralie and John's Wedding Lyveden New Bield
10th May 2008
The weather was in the mid seventies, so it was a hot day! Coralie felt the strain! We got to the hotel about midday, Coralie, myself and Lisa. We enjoyed a nice lunch and then Coralie had her friend Paula do her make up and then Lisa did her hair. The time went past very, very fast!!
We had a couple of slight panics. I realised just in time, that although I had my dress, jacket and shoes..... I had forgotten the necessary underwear!! I had to ring home to get Simon to bring it for me!! Luckily they hadn't left.
The second panic was when I unpacked Simons suit and there was no shirt!! Too late to ring him to bring another one with him, as they had already left! Fortunately after speaking to Johns Mum, it transpired that the shirt was in a pocket of the bag on the back which I hadn't found. That was a relief as I thought we were going to have to send someone out to the shops to buy one.
All too soon it was time to leave for the registry office in Oundle. I went in our car with Sam, Lisa, Saskia and Ellie. Simon obviously travelled separately with Coralie. The civil ceremony was very nice and Coralies friend Jo did a lovely reading. Ellie was very, very good. She had a little toddle around near the end and attracted more attention than the bride at that point!

It was then back to the marquee at Lyveden New Bield (a National Trust Property) for a drinks reception. The speeches were done at that point and Verity read the poem "I wish you enough" The longer version by the Rev Jen Willis. It was beautiful.

We then had photos taken using the Lyveden house as a back drop. You can see a whole range of photos in the album that I will upload some time tonight. While the photos were being taken some ducks arrived on the scene. Ellie adores ducks and gave chase!!

While waiting for all the evening guests to arrive, most people took the opportunity to have a wander around the very beautiful site and to go into the house. They were fascinated by the miles and miles of cables and wiring that John had put in, ready to light it up as soon as it became dark.

Cutting the cake.

With the evening guests there, it was time for a very good barbeque, followed by a chocolate fountain which served as dessert. Then the cutting of the cake and the first dance and then lots of dancing to the band. There was a fair bit of drinking going on to! All in all one very special day.
