Ok so I need to do a big catch up on the Daily Photo theme. I have been busy since Sunday with one thing or another. If I get time later on I’ll do a mid week catch up. Anyway down to business.
Here is what I have missed:
17. Slippers.
I don’t actually wear slippers. I much prefer to go bare foot. I remember how it used to drive my mum crazy when I was a child. She was forever nagging me to put my slippers on. Frankly I don’t see the point of slippers. I assume that they came into being years ago when footwear of some description was necessary at all times even indoors because it was so cold. Wearing outdoor shoes inside would risk dirt being trodden around so I am guessing that is why someone invented the slipper. Nowadays of course we have carpet in our lovely warm centrally heated houses so why do we need slippers?
Having said all that I do own a pair! I have even worn them on the rare occasion when I have been sitting at my computer and got cold feet. They are a good few years old now. They were bought for me as a treat by Saskia. The reason? They are Dalmatian slippers!!
18. Earth
I have 3 photos. (HA! Turns out to be 5 photos!) The first is our “earth” at the allotment. It is a very good quality earth.
Haha.......You all thought I was going to show you a photo of the ground! This is allotment earth all over Simons hands!
The second photo is Peterborough as a part of the EARTH.
Both photos taken from Google Earth
The last photo is of a very loyal dog, keeping guard by a mound of earth. OOOPS! Actually this appears to be a photo of Simon!!!!
OK. THIS last photo is of a very loyal dog, keeping guard by a mound of earth. (Hopefully!)
The above is a photo of a very loyal goggie, “Leao,” sitting patiently for the second consecutive day next to the grave of her owner, Cristina Maria Cesario Santana, who was killed in the recent landslides in Brazil. Leao’s faithfulness is a poignant reminder of the bonds that are formed between pets and their owners, and it’s a reminder of how devastating death can be for everyone involved.
19. A table decoration EG, a placemat.
I don’t have much in the way of table decorations. Maybe if I had a fancy dining table in a fancy dining room it would be different. I just have my kitchen table. I do have some cloth table mats and I permanently have a plastic oil skin type table cloth over it.
The table cloth is partly to hide the scratches which Alfie did when the table was only 2 days old! He climbed on it while we were out! Can you believe that? A Dalmatian getting on a table! Well he did. The other reason for the table cloth is that I don’t have to worry when the grandchildren want to do painting as it just wipes clean. I did painting with Evan on Monday and it can get messy!
I have Christmas table decorations but they have all been put away now. The other thing is that as there are now only Simon and I at home we do tend to use one end of the table as a dumping ground! Plus in the spring I have it covered with seed trays. It’s a good place to put them as it gets some sun.
These are my table mats and also my lemon tree which I grew from seed last year and I am trying to keep it going through the winter.
Tomorrow’s theme is: 20. Something you have on your kitchen counter. I am going to do it today as I am going into town on the bus with Coralie and the boys tomorrow and I won’t have much time. I don’t want to get behind again.
Well I have quite a few things on my kitchen counter. I have a utensil pot with utensils in! I have a knife block with knives in. Josh and Charlotte got us that for Christmas as my old one was a bit worse for wear.
I have a microwave.
I have a kettle and tea, coffee and sugar pots.
I have a coffee maker.
I used to have a toaster until Ellie...or was it Evan....Goodness I can’t remember who it was! Anyway, one of them put a plastic bowl on it and switched it on! The plastic melted inside the toaster! Yes I was there! I am not a negligent Nanny! I had sat whichever child it was on the work top next to me while I did something or other!
Then lastly there is my prized possession which is the king of the work top......My Kenwood Titanium mixer! You can look at it but please don’t touch!
There! I am not only caught up, I am a day ahead! I have more jobs to do now. I will probably do a midweek catch up later today.
Jilly
