Entry for 02 December 2007

Hi everyone, thank you for all your concern.  I am not MIA, just MAW!!  That means Missing at Work! I have been in school all week invigilating the year eleven mock exams.  I start at 8am and have not been getting home until after 3pm at the earliest.  When I get in, I have a quick cup of coffee and then I need to get on with some chores and then it is dinner time and then I am too tired to even switch on my computer.  I don’t know how any woman manages to work full time and do all the other stuff we are expected to do.  I can’t cope.  It’s just as well that I don’t work very often.

I am in school on Monday and Tuesday and also Friday afternoon and that will be it then until January when there are some “A” level exams and also some re-sits.  So hopefully, I may manage to fit in a blog some time this week.  If I don’t you’ll all know I am just too tired.  I am also going to Stevenage on Wednesday with Coralie to see my Dad and visit my Mum in the hospital.  That means I will only have Thursday free and I know that will be spent catching up on washing, ironing, cleaning etc…

I did manage to fit in a trip to the hairdresser on Wednesday, so I now look half way decent again!  The grey is gone and the highlights are back!  Other than that I haven’t really done anything else all week.

Yesterday was mine and Simons wedding anniversary.  28years!!!!   We were going to go out for a meal but I was too tired for that too.  Instead Simon cooked a lovely meal at home of steak in prawn sauce with all the trimmings (including my favourite swede!!)  Then French apple pie and cream to follow.  It was very nice and we chilled out after and watched TV, something I don’t often do.

There wasn’t much on so Simon ended up doing some stuff on the computer and I watched the shopping channels!!  Have you ever watched these?  They are absolutely hilarious!  The presenters sometimes appear to be half drunk, the things they say are unbelievable.

Anyway, I have to confess, I ended up buying myself a new sonic toothbrush!   Having never bought anything before, I wasn’t too sure how it worked but the instructions on the screen said to just dial the number and then press 1 to confirm your purchase.   When you do that it asks you to enter your pin and says if you don’t have a pin then they will phone you back later to confirm the details of your name and address.  I don’t have a pin because I have never ordered anything.   Anyway, Simon was really pleased when they phoned me back at about one in the morning!!!!!  Let’s hope the toothbrush is a good one!

Today Simon and I have been doing some housework and generally catching up on stuff that didn’t get done during the week.   Simon has now gone to his barn to do some car stuff, although he will probably be flooded out as it has been raining and raining here.  It is quite cold too.

I am taking the opportunity, in between loads of washing, to catch up on some time for myself.  I am also making some bread.  The bread maker that I won in a competition arrived during the week and I have just got round to unpacking it.  It is not something that I would ever have bought myself but since I won it I am giving it a try to see what it is like.  I can always give it away to someone else if I decide that I won’t really use it.

I suspect it is one of those kitchen appliances that gets used a few times and then just sits around taking up space. A bit like my steamer, Simon would say!  Anyway, I am giving the bread maker a go and making a wholemeal loaf.  It seems easy enough, you throw all the ingredients in the pan together, select the colour for the crust and the programme for the kind of loaf you are making, switch on and then just leave it.  It has been going about and hour and a half so far and I can’t smell any nice smells yet.  The menu thing appeared to say that it will take three and a half hours; which seems quite long but then I suppose it does have to rise.  There is s a quick bake programme that takes 58 minutes but that requires fast action yeast.  Anyway, I will let you know how it goes.

Right that’s about it for now. I am going to check on the bread and the washing machine and make myself another cup of coffee and then I am going to try and catch up with some friends.  I also hope to get my Christmas cards done this afternoon ready for posting after school tomorrow.
