Entry for 02 March 2008

Oh dear, no blogs since Wednesday; I even missed the 29th of February and the first of March! Just goes to show that it has been another busy few days.
On Thursday Simon was at home from school with Vertigo. That caused a bit of a saga to get a Doctors appointment. Simon hasn't been to a Doctor for years and doesn't realise that it doesn't quite work the same way any more! They have an automated phone system and you can't always get an appointment the same day.
To cut a long story short, Coralie and I went to the Doctors surgery and spoke politely and nicely to the receptionist and she gave us an appointment for him just after lunch, so he was able to get the tablets that he needed. Coralie and I spent the rest of the day doing the food shopping. I did a big freezer shop at Iceland and a grocery shop at Tesco's.
On Friday, Simon was still at home but I had to go into school to sort out for next week. I went in with Joshua as Simon wanted the car. (no comment about that, it did cause me hassle!) I was in school really early, twenty past eight, as Josh starts at eight thirty. My meeting wasn't until 9am but I had other stuff to get on with. We needed to do a requisitions order, as strangely lots of our stuff went missing after a certain someone left!! God only knows why she would want some of it!
It turned out to be a very long and tedious day. One of those days with a few too many "cooks" if you know what I mean! It would have been quicker and easier to do some of the stuff alone. At ten to three I tried to find Josh to say don't go home without me and I left messages for him with various people. Needless to say that at the end of school he went straight off!
Brilliant! That left me to wait for the first of my two buses in the pouring rain and howling wind. The bus stop claims buses come along every ten minutes. Well I stood there for 25 minutes and there weren't any! Just as I was getting really fed up a neighbour of mine who also works at the Voyager came past in her car and noticed me there. She very kindly stopped for me and gave me a lift home. I dread to think what time I would have arrived home without her.
Simon seemed to be a bit better on Friday evening and managed to get over to his barn in the evening. So that was my 29th of February.... a trying day all round. Just as well the next one isn't until 2012.
On Saturday I drove up to Stevenage to visit my Mum and Dad. I wanted to see Mum to give her a Mothers Day card but I didn't really want to go up today. Last year both my sister and I went to see Mum in the hospital on Mothers Day. I sort of thought that this year it would be nice to be at home. As it has turned out it really hasn't made any difference!
Anyway, I saw my Dad for a while. He is really suffering with pain in his left knee and struggling to get around. We manged to persuade him to have a day at home as both my sister and myself were going to see Mum. Mum was not too bad although she had no idea what the cards were about and we had a job even to get her to open them. Still, at least we were able to spend time with her.
When I got in, Simon was at the barn so nothing had been done all day. As nothing has been done for several days now and I am in school tomorrow; I have been frantically trying to catch up. Coralie came over this morning with a present and card for me and since then I have been mainly concentrating on washing and ironing.
I have absolutely piles of it. I occasionally do washing and ironing for a bachelor friend of ours who pays me to do it for him. He came over on Friday with about ten bin bags full, so you can imagine how much I have with all of my own on top! It's like a Chinese laundry here today. Great fun for Mothers Day!
I have received a very nice card form Verity who obviously can't be here today. Sam phoned and wished me a good day and he has a card and present for me which he will give to Simon, who is over at his barn. Josh is out at the moment but I know he has a card too and Saskia has had to work today so I haven't seen her but she is taking me out for a late lunch tomorrow after school.
It's nice to receive the presents and cards I just wish that some how the day wasn't just an ordinary day doing chores. Everyone seems to get time to do their own thing at the weekend but I just seem to carry on as always. Housework and yet more housework.
I have just had an hours break as Verity rang up to say Happy Mums Day. We have had a lovely chat all about what's been going on and how she is doing. She has had more tests this week at Uni and passed them all with flying colours. She has had 10 hours of driving lessons and her instructor is really pleased with how she is doing. He says she is very confident. I have challenged her to be the first one in the family to pass first time!
She goes away on Tuesday for her second teaching practise which is in a school on the Ilse of Wight! She will be staying in a caravan during the week and getting the ferry back to Southampton each weekend. Good luck Verity, we hope it goes well. We are very proud of you. Hopefully we will see her some time in the Easter holidays.
Next week I shall be very busy so may not get much blogging time. Tomorrow I am in school in the afternoon for an exam. Tuesday I am in again in the afternoon to start the setting up for Wednesday. Then on Wednesday I am in from 7am until goodness only knows when! I am not looking forward to it at all. I HATE SCIENCE MODULES!!!! I will probably have to go in on Thursday morning to finish up. We are doubtful that it will be possible to get all the paper work done by Wednesday evening. I will be glad when these are over.
Right, Simon is back and cooking dinner with Josh, so at least I haven't got to do that. I am going to go and have a nice bubble bath with a glass of the wine Coralie got me and a few scented candles. Hopefully then I may feel relaxed for the first time today.
Happy Mothers Day to all Mums and Mums to be!!
