It's Friday again and another week has gone. Only 17 days to go until Christmas, which in the olden days would have been 11 shopping days left until Christmas! I don't really think it is right for shops to be open 7 days a week 24/7 but thank goodness they are as I still have presents to buy. Mind you in the olden days when shops only opened 5 days a week, 9am until 5pm, we did still manage to organise ourselves to get all the Christmas shopping done in time, didn't we. How life has changed.
My week has continued to be busy with housework on Wednesday and a trip to Stevenage with Coralie yesterday. Both my Mum and my Dad seemed OK. I am going up on Monday for a meeting with her Consultant so I guess we will find out how they think she is settling in. I also want to find out exactly what drugs she is on at the moment. She is not eating very well again and has had 4 occasions of collapsing in a sort of faint. The Doctor saw her in the week and her blood pressure was very low. He said it could be her medication was too strong and they would look into it.
There was a Panorama programme on the TV this week called "Please look after Dad". Unfortunately I missed it. Apparently it was about a man with Alzheimer's in a home and his daughter was suspicious about what was going on there so she took a surveillance camera in, hidden in her handbag. As far as I know the main focus of the programme was the inappropriate and over medication of the patients. Did anyone see the programme? I would be interested in your thoughts if you did. As far as we can tell the place where my Mum is, they look after the patients well. However, it's always at the back of my mind that we only see what they want us to see. We are not there all the time.
On a lighter note..... I found this photo the other day and as our first dog was an Irish (red) Setter, I had to show you the photo.

Our Irish Setter was called Buick and he was simply the best. We lost him just before Christmas many years ago now, but I always think of him more at this time of year. I will scan some photos soon and do a special blog for him.
Usually when I am at my computer which is in my bedroom, I have a least one dog laying on the bed by my side. Today all three of them are here. I am sure they wonder what the attraction of this machine is to their Mummy and just why she spends so much time tapping away on that key board!
I am in school this afternoon for the French oral exams. I don't need to go in until 2pm and should be home again by 4pm. I am going to post my Christmas cards on the way home. I finished writing them all last night. Simon was at a parents evening in school and didn't get in until 9pm, so I had lots of time to get the cards finished.
Now I need to go and get another load of washing in the machine and do some hoovering before putting on some make-up and getting myself ready for school. Should have time for another cup of coffee later before I go, so I may do the Friday Five. Hope you all have a great day.
