Well all's well that ends well as they say. Simon and my family are all now safely back where they belong and I am beginning to feel better, with no headache and have even managed a few hours sleep now I am not on my own.
Going out to dinner on Sunday evening didn't happen, they were way too late back. I wasn't too disappointed about that as I knew it wasn't going to happen. I hadn't even got myself ready!
The thing is they were travelling on one of the busiest tourist routes in the UK and it's holiday time! There was always going to be traffic. After they get off there and a few hours from home there is the M25 to contend with. You may even have heard of this road over in the USA! It is always very, very busy and often jammed in places, 24 hours a day!! No way were they getting home from Dorset in 5 hours, unless the car sprouted wings!
Never mind, they are home now and Simon has said we can go out for a dinner another evening. Originally we were going to go on Monday but we ended up doing dinner at home as Sam and Lisa came over with Ellie.
We were busy all day yesterday. Food shopping in the morning as everything was beginning to run out. Then the normal washing and ironing. Simon cooked dinner and we had a lovely meal of roast duck, with lemon meringue pie to follow. Sam and Lisa were with us for a few hours and it was lovely to see my little princess. She is SO gorgeous.
Sam and Lisa brought me a lovely thank you card, some chocolates and a Dalmatian key ring to say thank you for looking after Ellie and for some other help. That was really nice of them. Ellie happily gave me the card but didn't want to hand over the chocolates!! She loves her chocolate.
Today Simon has gone into his new school to begin preparing for the start of the new term which is only a couple of weeks away now. I have been using my "half hour" system to get some jobs done. I have hoovered right through and wiped down a couple of grubby walls. I have also got the laundry basket emptied out, although I still have the ironing to do. I wanted to get clear as Josh will back home tonight after 2 weeks in Crete and he will be filling up my basket again!
Going to start a new book now while I drink my coffee! Have got Coralie coming over soon with baby Evan.
