Entry for 12 January 2008

Well it's been a funny old day with not much happening and seemingly not much being done either. Despite that we seem to have been busy all day! We got up late which never helps really, even if it is nice to lay in. Simon walked the dogs while I had a continued lay in, but I was up when he got back.
I concentrated on ironing this morning, while Simon did the hoovering and then went to sainsburys for me. That was a mistake! I should have known better!!! First off, I never go to Sainsburys for anything more than a couple of items as it is just to expensive. Tesco or Asda are way cheaper. The thing with Simon is that he doesn't get what is on the list and if he does he gets the expensive versions. He also gets lots of thing that aren't on the list.
A lot of them are things that he knows I like, so he buys them as treats. He also buys basics though, that aren't on the list, for the simple reason that we already have them!! Two examples today were parsnips and peppers. Reminder to self, it is much cheaper to do the shopping myself!!!
While he was out I was able to concentrate on moving more of my files to my new computer. I have nearly done it all now. When Simon got back he went and picked Saskia up as she was coming to us for dinner. Saskia and I went for a quick whizz round the Hampton shopping centre before dinner. She wanted to get a birthday present for her partner, Gyasi. She ended up buying herself some shoes!!
We had a lovely dinner which Simon cooked for us; rump steak in a prawn sauce with all the veggies and trimmings. It was delicious. We had trifle and cream to follow and we are still bloated out, two hours later!! Saskia and I watched the film 42nd Street, as Saskia hadn't seen the film, although she has danced in the show!!  The first time when she was 10 years old!!!!  It was quite interesting as it was the original black and white film. I haven't seen anything in black and white for years.
We had to watch a DVD as our TVs are playing up. at least that is to say we think the aerial is playing up. The TVs say "No Signal". It happened once before, just a few weeks ago but the next day they were fine,so we put it down to the transmitters or something. Not so sure now though as this is the 2nd day. The living room TV was saying No Signal yesterday, but our bedroom one and Josh's one were fine. Today none of them will work. If it's the same tomorrow we will need to phone the man who fitted the digital aerial. I thought digital was supposed to be more reliable??
While we were watching the film, I did some of my embroidery on my table cloth. I have finished Ellie's picture now and I am working on the names on the table cloth for a while until the stuff arrives for me to start on something for "Bob".
Saskia has gone home now and Simon is watching a DVD, so I thought I would get in a quick blog and then enter some competitions. Thanks for all your comments, I will try to catch up with some of you tomorrow. Oh, just remembered something.... take a look at the following website, it really is lovely.
This is so worth viewing and sharing. All too suddenly we are taken from this world...or our loved ones are and this is so to the point. Please view this and remember.....share with someone else that may need to be reminded of love....
