Entry for 13 December 2007

Well it's Thursday already and up until yesterday I hadn't done a blog since Friday!! I did do 2 doggie related ones yesterday. I have received lots of messages asking if I am OK. Thank you all for your concern. I am fine, just really, really busy! Hopefully things will settle down next week and I will have more time. As it is at the moment, I am feeling quite stressed and don't seem to be able to figure out if I am coming or going!!
So what have I been up to? Well, I seem to be playing an endless game of catch up with the house work. I don't know what has gone wrong really, except that I haven't been here much. Usually I can catch up quite quickly, but being in school for a week and a half has really thrown me out this time.
On top of that I have been into town several times for Christmas shopping and also up to Stevenage. The weekend was mostly spent doing house work, with a brief visit to town late on Saturday afternoon. It was productive though as I got quite a few presents.
On Monday I went up to Stevenage as there was a care review meeting at the hospital for my Mum. My Dad and I attended together. They didn't say much that we didn't already know. Mum fulfils the criteria to stay on the continuous care ward and they will hold another official review this time next year.
They did discuss with us their concerns about her physical health. She is clearly unwell at the moment and has had several sort of fainting fits. They are carrying out some tests as they are not sure what is wrong with her. She has very low blood pressure and high blood sugar, so diabetes is possible. They will let us know as soon as they know. Mum has also been very aggressive and difficult the last week or so which they think maybe due to her medication and they are going to try and adjust that.
On top of everything else she is not eating again which is a worry as she is very frail now. We all spend ages trying to feed her when we are there and Dad takes in all sorts of little treats that she used to like. Although I did see her on Monday she was fast asleep. She had been up all of the previous night, so they had just left her to sleep in. I think it was for the best. I will see her this Sunday as the hospital are having their Christmas party.
On Tuesday, I went to town with Coralie and that took up most of the day but I did manage to get nearly all of my shopping done. Yesterday, I was in school for a meeting at lunch time and I thought that was it until January. Unfortunately, they decided to fit in some science exams today and Monday!!!
These are exams that count towards their eventual grades but they are modular and the children may use notes. Anyway, I was in at quarter past eight this morning and once again it seems to have messed me all up! I went to a shop on the way home to get a last present for Sam and it took ages. I couldn't find what I was looking for and it took 3 members of staff to eventually find it for me!!
This afternoon I have washing, ironing and hoovering to do. When I have finished my coffee of course! A friend of mine, Grammy Blick, sent me a lovely thing called "When I mature." Unfortunately, I can't post it as you have to visit the website. It's very cute, take a look:http://www.frontiernet.net/~jimdandy/specials/life/life.htm The tune of What a Wonderful World plays in the back ground and I love that song so I found it on You Tube.
Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World
Right, my coffee is finished and it is time to get on with the hoovering. I haven't got long as Simon needs picking up at 4.45pm tonight. He has to take Loulou to the vets for her annual booster injections. Tomorrow he will take Alfie.
We used to take them together but it is dreadful as I would sit in the car while Simon took in one dog. The dog left behind in the car with me would then cry and howl for the next 15 minutes until Simon was back. Then I would have to sit through the performance again while the second dog went in!! It was unbearable, so now we are going two days running instead. Of course the dog that is left behind at home will still cry and howl but at least I can turn the music up and go upstairs , so there is a chance of staying sane! I also have Saskia coming for dinner tonight and I need to decide what to have. Best get on with it!!!
