This afternoons exams were easy, once I had got myself organised. I had 7 children. 3 doing Maths, 2 doing Geography, 1 doing Law and 1 outside candidate doing Chemistry but a different board to ours. The boy doing law had 2 papers to do, one after the other as did the 2 girls doing Geography. All the exams were different lengths so I had to be on the ball.
Once they were all started though, I was able to do the cross word. It is very easy with such a small number to keep an eye on what is going on. I finished about 5pm and am just now having my coffee and checking my emails and messages.
Seems that we still have some confusion over Runner Beans and Swede! Lots of you have told me that in America a Swede is a Turnip and Runner Beans are Green Beans. Well, over here those are something else all together!!
Green Beans over here are a much small bean than the Runners. A Green Bean (Or French Bean) is usually only about 4 -6 inches long and quite thin. They are cooked and served whole. The Runner Bean is about 10- 12 inches long and is sliced up to cook. I think some of you also call them String Beans. This kind of makes sense to me, as we usually "string" them before cutting them up. IE: We cut down the sides to remove the "stringy" edge.

A Turnip

Green Beans
So, if in America a Swede is a Turnip ........ what is a Turnip?? And, if a Runner Bean is a Green Bean, then what do you call them? How confusing!! I wonder how many other things go by different names?
