Entry for 22 July 2008

I don't know where the time is disappearing to! It's Tuesday already and I have done no blogs since Friday!! I am feeling very much better now and thankfully my sore throat has more or less gone. I have an appointment with my Doctor on Thursday afternoon, to sort out my supposed blood pressure and what happens after the cystoscopy. Presumably, nothing as the hospital said everything was fine.
I haven't done too much since Friday as I have been concentrating on making sure that I really do feel better. I have a head ache on and off which hasn't helped but may be the after effects of the anaesthetic.
On Saturday, despite really not feeling very good, I went with Simon, Coralie and baby Evan to the Sandringham craft fair. This is a big annual craft and country fair which takes place on the Queens Estate of Sandringham, which is about a 45 minute drive. This is the 3rd year that we have gone with Coralie.
It makes a nice afternoon out and they always have lots of interesting stalls. The weather wasn't as good this year as it has been other years, but we managed to avoid the rain and just got back to the car before the heavens opened. I didn't buy much this year although I did treat myself to a very nice silver necklace with a heart made from Whitby Jet and Lapiz lazuli. I also got a lovely moisturiser made with essential oil of lavender and geranium and a couple of hair slide things. Simon got some really nice cards which we might frame and as usual we got some lovely organic cheeses. My favourite is the cheddar with ginger.
On Sunday Simon was on a welding course and left at half six in the morning. I didn't feel that great but I did manage to start catching up on the house work that wasn't done last week while I was having the cystoscopy. Simon got back at half past eight, rather later than I was expecting.
Yesterday was a lovely hot glorious day in Peterborough, so I worked my half hour system and spent lots of time sitting in the sun. I did lots of reading and managed to finish one book and start another. The book I finished was "Wicked" by Jilly Cooper. It's a huge book of about 1200 pages. I did enjoy it but it was a bit boring in places. I think it would have been better if it wasn't quite so long. It is funny though.
The book I started after that was called "The taking" by Dean Koontz. This is the second one of his that I have read in the last couple of weeks. I found out about him after reading a friends book review. I finished this book earlier today and it is really good. I am going to start on "Life Swap" by Jane Green later today.
After dinner yesterday evening Simon decided that a bike ride would be a good idea. He had to pump up my tyres first though as it is so long since I have ridden my bike. It must be years! We had a very nice ride and stopped at the Green Man for a glass of wine before cycling home, which was really nice. I need my handle bars adjusting as I can only just reach them. I also need a comfy saddle as I had a sore bum when I was riding and today I have a VERY sore bum!" It would be nice to do it again tonight but Simon is going to his barn.
I haven't done too much today as I am still very head achey. I can't seem to properly shift it. I sat in the garden for a short while this morning finishing my book. It was lovely and hot and sunny but only lasted about an hour. Since then although it is still warm, it is very over cast. I have done all the house work for today and I have some salmon out ready for dinner. It needs to be a quick meal with Simon going out.
I haven't seen Saskia since last Wednesday when we went to the cinema, but Simon saw her at school yesterday and she was really excited as she has an unconditional offer for a place at De Montford University which she has accepted. She had already had an offer from Bedford, but was waiting to hear from De Montford as that was the one she really wanted.
So, it's now definite.... 2 more of our children will be off to University in September. Both have at least 3 years to do. At least at the end of it, Saskia will be able to be paid a proper teaching wage rather than teaching for learning support wages as she does now.
So tomorrow the Voyager school will be loosing it's last 3 Glennsansums. Neither the old Walton school, or the Voyager have ever had 4 members of the same family working there at athe same time, apart from us! I left back at the beginning of May, which left 3, and now they all leave tomorrow at the end of term. The end of an era, I suppose. I can't say that I am sorry.
I think Simon is looking forward to his new school in September. I am looking forward to the holidays, although Simon has quite a lot of things on and we don't have a holiday booked because Coralie is busy with Evan. It will be the first year in ages that we haven't had a proper holiday. We usually have several. It looks like I will just end up doing the normal household chores and not much else! We''ll see.....
