Entry for 23 May 2008

It's Friday!! It's also the beginning of the school half term week so Simon will be at home. I am feeling quite a lot better today. My antibiotics must be working and I still have a few more days to take. I have even done some jobs today and made potato salad for lunch.

I don't want to over do it though, so I am having a little rest now. Later I am going to do some hoovering before we all disappear under the dog hair! Speaking of dogs, take a look at my Doggies blog, there is a link in my links section. They have been busy! They saw Mummys Imikimi and had to do their own!! I am getting hooked on them. They are a real good way to waste a few hours!

Again, speaking of dogs, my poor Loulou has hurt her tail. It sort of has a chunk out of it! No idea how she did it! She managed to knock the scab off it yesterday when she was shut in the kitchen for a while. The kitchen looked like a murder scene! Blood everywhere! Even on the worktops and up the walls. When they wag their tails it sprays! It took ages to clear up but fortunately Sam and Coralie were here and they helped.

Simon has to take her to the vet tonight. The strange thing is that a few days before hand, Alfie had a cut on his tail and it kept bleeding. We ended up having to bandage it up. We thought he would just pull it off but he didn't. Just as well as it was a nightmare to do! Coralie held him while Simon did it! He is a big baby. Having such long tails is a liability. They wag them so hard and often bash them into things resulting in cuts. When Alfie was tiny he hit his on the door frame and broke it. He has a kink in the end of it now!

Tomorrow Simon and I are going to Stevenage to my Dads. He wanted his hall, landing and stairs decorated so we are doing it for him along with my sister and her husband. We will come home Saturday night and go back again on Sunday morning. We reckon with 4 of us, that we will be able to complete it in 2 days! Hopefully!

Next week we want to get the garden done. At least, I want to get the garden done! Simon probably wants to go to his barn! We do have to sort the lawn out though. We have finally got the astro turf. Do you remember that we had gone off the idea because of the cost? It was going to be about £600 even for the tiny little bit that we need! We did shop around too.

Well last Friday I was talking to Sam on the phone at lunch time, when he suddenly said "Mum while we are talking, I have been flicking through the Friday Ads and there is an advert for astro turf". Friday Ads is a local free paper that you can pick up in the supermarket or garage, which has all kinds of adverts.

The advert said: astro turf, brand new, top quality, rubber backed, 28 square meters, £65 or near offer! I took down that number pretty quick, got Sam of the phone and rang Simon at school! Simon phoned him and then went to see it after school. Apparently the man said he imports bits and pieces from Ireland and this was the off cut from a new football stadium. Simon paid him the £65. He didn't offer him any less as it was a great bargain and the man offered to deliver it on Monday. Brilliant.

When he did deliver it, he told us that he had been away for the weekend and that when he got back he had 35 phone calls on his answer machine about it! So well done Sam for spotting that Ad! We were so lucky to get it. All we have to do now is to dig up what remains of our grass, level the ground, lay down some sand and then Bobs your Uncle!!

At the moment it is in a huge roll in the garden. Simon did unroll a little bit so we could see it. It looks great, you wouldn't know from a distance that it's not real. Josh and I walked on it with bare feet and it felt real. I am so pleased. I can't wait for it to be finished so I can sit out there in the sun....when it decides to come back!! I'll take some photos so you can see.

Right that's all for now, I am going to go and see if I can do a little bit of hoovering now. I will take it easy!!
