Well it's been a couple of busy days since the weekend. The weather here in Peterborough has been really grotty. Lots of rain and high winds. Apparently it's set to be like this for most of the week. It's hard to believe that it is nearly the end of May.
Monday was spent with Simon trying to get on with digging out the lawn ready to lay the astro turf. This was hampered by the weather. Saskia was over with us and we went to Tesco in Hampton for a while. I got some trousers for Simon and a couple of books for myself.
Yesterday was basically the same, struggling with the weather to get the gardening done. Simon did manage to get about half of the lawn dug out and we also went and purchased the sand and a lining membrane which are being delivered on Thursday.
We also got a new kitchen mixer tap as we have a plumber coming on Tuesday to replace the kitchen tap and also to fit us with an outside tap in the garden. We will need this as the astro turf will need to be hosed down daily to keep it fresh. Doggie pee will apparently wash through but you do need to hose it regularly.
Today we have been busy again. Simon has got all the lawn dug out ready for the delivery of sand tomorrow. I went to my Doctors this morning to have the ECG done. While I was there I asked about the blood tests which I had done last week. The nurse told me that the full results aren't back yet , but the results they do have show some "anomalies"!
She couldn't say what as I need to see my own Doctor. Great! Now I am going to worry! To cut a long story short they have bought forward my appointment with him to Monday, so I should know what's going on then. She did take my blood pressure today and it was slightly lower, so I suppose that's good.
This afternoon, Simon and I went to the garden centre and got lots of plants for our pots and hanging baskets. We also got some trellis for the back fence and 2 honey suckles to grow up it. On the way to the garden centre we visited a farm that sells bird seed and related items.
We made some purchases there too! We got bird seed, peanuts, fat balls and a suet cake. We also got a bird feeding station. This is on a kind of pole and should (supposedly) be squirrel proof as they can't climb poles! I'm not convinced, but willing to give it a go! The squirrels in our garden have not been deterred by the rope covered with tubing as suggested by Connie's husband JT. They have used it like a tight rope and even do rolley polleys on it! It drives the dogs insane. Loulou has been waiting underneath it for one to fall off, but they never do!
I spent this evening planting up some pots and hanging baskets. I am now exhausted and think I may have over done things! Tomorrow I am going to Sam and Lisa's house to look after Ellie as Lisa has a job interview. It is only for the morning.
Simon will be going into school tomorrow afternoon as he has some work to do. I think I will probably be taking it easy as I feel a bit worn out. On the other hand I may be busy doing baby shopping!
Oh yes! I received "that" phone call a few hours ago now! My daughter Coralie is in labour and I am waiting on news! She has been on the delivery suite since 6.30pm! It is 5 weeks early so your thoughts and prayers for her will be welcome. As you all know this baby is extra specially precious and there have been many problems. I am not going to sleep tonight. I will let you know as soon as there is news.
Right that's it for now. I am going to keep myself going by entering some competitions!
