Friday

Well Friday has come round again once more and thank goodness for that I say. Simon at least will be happier.  The weather today is once again going to be at around the 60F mark although it will not be as sunny.  Yesterday was just glorious for this time of year.  60F and really sunny, well until about 4pm when it suddenly turned really chilly.

You know the English are funny about weather!  I know we don't get as much sun as some places do and last year was terrible but that is no excuse for the madness that prevails the minute there is a hint of warmer weather.

I went into town yesterday with Coralie and the boys.  There were some odd sights to behold. Men in T shirts and shorts, one man in particular had his skinny white legs poking out of his shorts and a fur lined hat with ear flaps on his head!  Girls in little hot pants and sleeveless tops.  Girls in little dresses!  Barmy the lot of them.  I had on a dress and leggings and over that I had on my thin purple mac.  It was warm enough to take my mac off while we ate our lunch in the sun.

60 degrees is warm, it is not hot!  Get real. It is very warm for March but still not hot.  It is pleasant in the sun but move into shadow or catch a slight breeze and it is suddenly chilly. Don't get me wrong, I was thrilled with such a lovely day so early in the year but summer is not here yet and I for one shall be keeping my summer clothing under wraps for a while longer. Crazy English people.

We had a nice day yesterday.  We went to town on the bus.  We both wanted to check out our local market for fabric.  I haven't been to our market for years so I didn't even know if there was a fabric stall.  There was.  I got 3 different ones. A flowery one for a dress for me.  A white one with tiny coloured hearts for a dress for Ellie and some Thomas the Tank fabric to make bunting for Evans bedroom.  Hang on......didn't I swear last August that I would never ever make bunting again?

Talking of bunting I still have 200 metres of the stuff sitting under my stairs in bin liners. Goodness knows what I should do with it.  It seems a shame to just throw it out after all that work.

Once we had got our fabric we got ourselves some sandwiches for lunch and ate them in the sun on the cathedral green.  It was really nice.  Flynn had to be kept in the pushchair as he kept toddling off and Coralie had to keep chasing him.  Evan was happy to sit and munch his way through his lunch.  He likes his food that boy.

I tried to get a couple of shots of the cathedral but they aren't great.  It is hard to get far enough away to get it all in.  Dixie you can visit it and see for yourself when you come over.

When I got home, I didn't do much.  I didn't feel that great.  I had planned to have a look at my patterns and maybe make a decision on what to do next.  Iwas too tired.  The last couple of days I have had a dull ache in my lower back and hips and yesterday my legs were achy and stiff.  I know I shouldn't complain as I know some of you put up with this kind of thing on a daily basis.

Today is a short day for me as Simon gets home at 3.30pm.  That's lovely but it also means less time to get things done before he is here and the weekend officially begins. The house isn't too bad so I think I will potter in the garden for a while.  I might pot-on my tomato seedlings and put them in the mini green house.   Then maybe some sewing.

Tomorrow I think will be an allotment day.  We need to get in some more potatoes and also I think possible that my cabbage seedlings can go out.  The weather is due to be a lot chillier tomorrow and cloudy but as far as I know there is no rain due so Simon can happily rotavate again and I can do planting.

Isn't it wonderful how everything seems better in the spring?
