I have "bad" dogs like this too!
Monday, the start of a brand new week! Not to mention that a whole week of September has already gone. I must do a Christmas countdown for Wendy! I tried to do one last week, but for some reason once the blog was posted it didn't show up. I did try several times with the same result. I think Wendy had put a Gremlin in my system.
The weekend has been fairly busy with ordinary stuff. Lots of housework, although Simon did do all the hoovering for me yesterday. On Friday, I went with Coralie to take baby Evan for his first ever swim. Some of you may have seen that I posted a video of him. He was so good and really enjoyed it.
The whole visit was a bit of a military operation though! It wasn't helped by the fact that Friday was a terrible day with torrential rain. I was fortunate because Josh drove me there in his car; Coralie had to walk and was really wet when she got there.
She would never manage on her own......... first off you have to take the pram up in the lift, then you put it in the buggy park outside the changing rooms. We didn't realise that you need to pay a deposit to get a key if you want to secure your pram. We did want to secure it as it is a very nice, expensive pram. This meant I waited with Evan while Coralie trotted back down to the main entrance to get a key. She was gone ages and they charge a £5 deposit! We will have to make sure we remember that extra £5!
Once in the changing room you have to locate a family cubicle so you have enough room. Then Coralie got Evan ready while I changed and then I held him while she got changed. The lockers are right away round the corner, so I held Evan while Coralie made 2 trips with all our stuff! It would be very difficult to do this on your own because the lockers are hard to open and difficult to get all your stuff in. The floor is wet there too so you wouldn't want to be putting anything down!
We finally made it to the pool and Evan was in there for 35 minutes. Quite a while for a first swim. He really seemed to enjoy it. Coralie and John took him again yesterday. She is going to take him every week in the hope that he will be a good little swimmer. Once you leave the water you have to reverse the whole getting changed process! It took quite a while. I will post some photos later today and a video of him with me.

Nanny and Evan
On Saturday after the chores were done we went to PC World to buy a copy of Microsoft Office 2007. Both Saskia and Josh need to have "Word", "Excel" and "PowerPoint" on their laptops for University. I also wanted it as this new computer that I have only has “Microsoft Works" and that really isn't up to much.
We got a good deal with £30 off the price, so that was good. It's only licensed for 3 computers though, so we can't use it again, but then we shouldn't need to. I have often wondered with these things..... If I got a new computer next week, would it recognise me and let me install it again???? HMMMM..
I had a good day, while we were there Simon got me a new toy, something that I have looked at for ages. It is called a "Bamboo Fun Tablet". It is a sort of mini white board thing that you write on. I have looked at them loads of times and thought I would like to try it out. What drew us into getting one was that it comes with Photoshop Elements.
Now I have long since wanted to try my hand at Photoshop and in fact I had the version 7 down on my birthday present list! This included copy is only version 5, but I don't think there are too many differences and this was free! Version 7 will be very expensive.
So Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon (after the housework!) were spent in installing all my new goodies and trying them out. You can see the Tablet thingy here: http://www.wacom.com/bambootablet/bamboofun.cfm It is actually much better than I thought. It's brilliant for drawing and touching up photos. The hand writing recognition is very good too. It has only occasionally misinterpreted my words and it gets better through use, as it gets used to your style and language.
I'm really impressed with it and I hope I get time today to play some more! I think I may have quite a learning curve with Photoshop! I have Lisa calling in with Ellie this morning for a quick visit and Coralie is also going to pop in at some point with Evan, so that will take up some of my time.
There is also the housework to get done, but I'm not doing too badly, I've already cleaned the kitchen and bathroom and have a load of washing on. I also cleaned the kitchen window and just now before my coffee break, I polished the kitchen table with bees wax in another attempt to get rid of the dog scratches......don't ask!! Right back to my jobs now!
