Well where I have I been since Friday and what have I been doing? I have been busy as always. Firstly though, thanks to everyone who sent helpful tips for painful necks. Thankfully it seems to have totally gone today except a slight stiffness if I turn it too far. I have concluded that I must have just slept funny and then aggravated it by carrying those grandbabies!
I had a productive day on Friday. I went to the meeting in school with my friend Eddy. That went exactly as he had expected and is now going to the 3rd stage of the grievance procedure, after which it will go to court.
That done with, I went to catch my bus to town. I had to wait 45 minutes! I was not pleased as they are supposed to run every ten minutes. Whilst I waited, 5 went past in the other direction! I ended up being half an hour late to meet Coralie and I don’t think she was too pleased.
We did get some shopping done though. Coralie got some weaning bowls and spoons for Evan and a little cup. She is hoping to wean from the breast straight to a cup when the time comes. I got quite a few Christmas presents purchased, so I was pleased. I have lists written up now and I have discovered that I can get quite a lot of it from Amazon.com; hopefully I am going to make the order today. I am also making various things for presents.
Saturday was a very good day..... I got my Kenwood mixer!!! Oh yes! Simon had said on Friday evening that we would go and buy it on Saturday. I did a few chores in the morning while he went to the barn and then we went into town. As we were only getting that one thing, Simon took the car and went to the pickup point while I went in and actually bought it. It is far too heavy to carry.
It is a Kenwood Chef Titanium and it comes with a liquidiser and a food processor. There are 26 different attachments which can be purchased separately. Once I get used to it, I may get some! They would be good presents. I haven’t actually opened it yet as I wanted to wait until today when I would have time to do it at my leisure and relish it all! Expect a blog with photos later!
Late Saturday afternoon we went over to Sams. Lisa was at work so the plan was that we would play with Ellie while Sam got on with some jobs. He is hanging all new doors at the moment. We had a great time with her and Simon got to play for once. There will be some new photos in an album later and a video which is very poor quality and quite dark, but you can still see how cute my little angel is.
Nannys little Angel.
Granddad and Ellie
Simon cooked dinner for us all which was a nice chicken korma with rice. I fed Ellie a bit earlier as she was very tired. I got her ready for bed and she had her night time milk bottle with her Granddad. We got to put her to bed too, which is so lovely. She goes straight down in her cot without a murmur.
Sunday was quite busy with jobs. We had to pop out in the morning to Tesco as I was desperate for ink for my printer. I had several things that needed printing. We got the ink and Simon then went to his barn leaving me to install the new cartridges and then get on with some jobs.
I got them installed printed out one thing and ......... then nothing. It wouldn’t work. It had 2 lights flashing simultaneously on the front. I looked for the manual, but it didn’t really come with one, only a set up guide. I tried to investigate myself, but couldn’t see anything obviously wrong. I looked in the programme help menu......nothing.
Finally, I went online and looked on the Epsom site. To cut a long story short those 2 lights flashing together mean “You have an unidentified error, contact your dealer”! In other words I think it’s saying it’s broken.
It was only a cheap printer so no point in having it repaired as it would cost more than it’s worth. I checked online to see if I could get a new one, but guess what? They don’t make that one anymore. They don’t even have one on eBay! So it looks like we will have to buy a new printer and the chances of getting one that will take the same ink cartridges is very slim, so we have probably wasted £25 of ink now too. I can’t take them back because I have unpacked them. I am so cross. It took me ages too.
After that I did my online banking which took forever and then I did some chores. I got the dinner all prepared and the meat cooking, but Simon finished it all off when he got in. We had a gammon joint, mash and veggies. There is a lot left over so I think we will have carbonara tonight or maybe just left over meat with bubble and squeak as there were lots of left over veg and potatoes too.
In the evening I watched the Strictly Come Dancing results show. I watched most of the actual show last night in between amusing Ellie. I thought Tom Chambers was very good but this week poor John Sergeant was really bad. He wasn’t even funny and only scored 12 points. I knew he would be saved by the public though and he was! He is now up against some real talent so I imagine this will be his last week.
So far today I have cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen and got some washing on in the machine. I need to do the hovering at some point. I am waiting for the Tesco man to deliver my groceries, which should be quite soon. I don’t want to hoover until he has been in case I don’t hear him.
I have unpacked the instruction books from my new mixer and I am going to sit down in a minute to read through with a cup of coffee. Then I shall go and unpack it all and decide where it is to live. It comes with a recipe book and 2 DVDs. I can’t decide what to make first! I think I’ll probably keep it simple and just make some cakes.
I won’t have too much time as it will take me a while to put all the shopping away and then at 2pm Coralie will be here with Evan. I am looking after him this afternoon while Coralie goes to the dentist. I am going to take him out in his pram. I need to go up to the library to take my books back. I have been very bad as some of them are overdue.
I am also giving up on one, which is most unlike me. It is out Purple Wearers book for September...............yes, I know it is November! It is called “A fraction of the whole” by Steve Toltz and I am still only half way through. I think the problem has been that I am bored by it. I just haven’t seemed to be able to get into it and I keep leaving it, which means I forget what’s going on when I do go back to it.
We at the Purple Wearers club seem to have all been so busy recently that nobody has been posting anything; I don’t even know who did read this book. I do know that I was the one who was supposed to choose Octobers book and I haven’t ...yet!
Right, that’s about it for now. Later today I will post some photos and the video of Ellie and probably a blog about my mixer! I am off to unpack it all now.
