More for the 22nd.

I am just back from the shops and library and having a cup of coffee before Simon gets home.  I have done the hoovering and the washing and ironing, I even cleaned the oven!  See I do other stuff apart from blogging!  I am just having a bit of a blogging day.  I have even got all the dinner prepared ready to go in the oven as it needs to be quite early tonight because Simon is going to the barn.
I ordered 2 books at the library, "The Commoner" as mentioned in an earlier blog today and also Engleby by Sebastian Faulks which is the reading group book for May; chosen by Coralie.   I got my potatoes in Sainsburys.... they cost me £33.  Have you ever noticed that if you go to the supermarket for just one item, you inevitably end up buying lots of other stuff and it costs you a fortune?
Maybe that's just me?  Part of the reason was that I got some "holiday skin" moisturiser which was on BOGOF  (that's buy one, get one free for the uninitiated)  and also some shower gel which was also BOGOF!  Bargains!  Own up who also uses holiday skin?  It's a brilliant invention.  If you haven't come across it, it's a body moisturiser that has a "hint" of self tan in it.  Fantastic for having a tan all year round and without the sun!  I like to have a tan as I look slimmer!!   No really, it's true!   I don't need to lose weight, I just need to top up my tan!
That reminds me that I have promised myself that tomorrow I will have a third attempt at the "No Diet, Diet"  I have already started twice and only got as far as day 4.  Not very good!   I am guessing that some of you will be saying what the heck is the "NO Diet, Diet"??  Good question!   Wendy got me on to it, so maybe I should make her try to explain it!
It is nothing to do with what you eat, but more about changing habits.  It is a book, obviously called the "No Diet, Diet", written by Professor Ben Fletcher, Dr Karen Pine and Dr Danny Penaman.  They are all from the University of Hertfordshire (where Coralie went) which is where they carried out their scientific and medical trials.
Over a number of years they did research into, not only why are fat people fat, but also why are slim people slim?  Their research showed that there was very little difference in what the average fat person puts in their mouth and what the slim person does.  It was the same with excercise.  This led them into looking at what was different and they found that it was "habits".
Naturally slim people have totally different habits and attitudes to fat people.  So the " No Diet. Diet" is about doing things differently in all areas of your life in order to break habits.  They reckon that you lose on average 2lb's a week.  The natural pessimist in me, says I can't really believe it, but because I thought it was easy I wanted to give it a go.
It isn't easy because as I already said, I've started twice and got as far as day 4!  I am going to start over again tomorrow and I figure if I put in my blog each day what I have done and how I got on, then it might inspire me. Plus, some of you will nag me!  I'm not telling you my starting weight, but I'll tell you if I lose any.
Right, day one, which I will start tomorrow is: That you must not watch TV for the whole day. Or, if you don't usually watch TV then you mustn't listen to music!  Easy peasy, I don't really do either!!  The only thing I watch is Eastenders and that isn't on Wednesdays!  How lucky is that?
Actually on my 2 aborted attempts what I did, was not to switch my computer on all day as I figured that is the same kind of thing for me.  It is a habit.  I always switch on to check my email first thing in the morning.  So that is what I shall do tomorrow.  NO COMPUTER.  I'll be AWOL.  But back on Thursday to let you know how I got on.
Day 2's task on Thursday is to write something for 15 minutes.  It can be anything at all.  Another easy peasy one as I obviously write stuff every day in my blog!!  I will try and write about something completely different.  Maybe a poem!
The other thing you have to do in week one of the diet is to pick 2 things from a list, to do at some point in the week.  The list has all sorts of suggestions and the aim is to pick 2 things that you wouldn't ordinarily do.  It can be anything from reading a different news paper, going for a walk, or going to the cinema on your own.
I am going to go for a walk first thing tomorrow before I do anything else.  That will certainly be doing something different for me!  I know it all probably sounds a bit strange but I really want to give it a go.  If you are interested then you can find out more here: www.nodietdietway.com      I think we should all enquire how Wendy is getting on too, as she has gone very quiet.  Perhaps she decided to give up and just top up her tan instead!
I took a couple of photos this afternoon in the garden.  It needs an awful lot of work but some things are beginning to grow.
Above is my Hydrangea, beginning to grow new leaves.  Below are some tuber thingies that my friend Peggy gave to me last year and they have come up again.  I forget what they are called but they have purple flowers.

To the left is my Acer tree which we thought had died but it has sprouted new growth again.  It needs to have it's pot turned round.  To the right are the Aubretia that are taking over the butler sink.
I also took a couple of photos of my embroidered table cloth as quite a lot of you were interested.  The photos aren't great and the table cloth is currently really screwed up as I am working on it.  Hopefully though you can read a couple of the messages.

Finally I took this photo of Alfie and Loulou.  They are standing up at the kitchen work top in order to see out of the kitchen window.  They do this every day at the time Simon is due in from work.  They are watching for the first sight of their Daddy!
Right, I think that's it for today, I need to go and put the dinner on now.  Just 2 things before I go, Yesterdays changes to relationship status were not intended to offend anybody, just to make my life easier and I just remembered the name of those plants is Hosta's!   Remember I won't be here tomorrow as I will be having my no computer day!  No doubt I'll lose pounds and if I don't well I'll put on an extra layer of "holiday skin" and you'll never know that I'm a fattie!!
