Well as most of you know for over a year I have tried to do a blog once a month called “My 26th of the month blog”. The idea behind it was that if I did a detailed blog of my day once a month on the same date I would be able to look back over a year and see how my days varied.
It hasn’t really worked as I haven’t managed yet to complete a full year!! Something so often seems to come up on that date and it doesn’t get done. Starting with February 2011 I will once again attempt to do a full year. Even this one is not really a complete one as I didn’t take many photos. Anyway here goes.....
The 26th of February was a Saturday. It was also at the end of the half term week for the schools. I was woken at 7.10 am by the phone ringing. I had not had a good night and had only been asleep a few hours and because it was still dark it felt to me like the middle of the night. I leapt out of bed.....couldn’t find the phone.....heart was beating fast.... locate phone, grab it up....”Hello”? It was one of those wretched recorded sales messages.
I was furious. How can they get away with that so early on a Saturday morning? I have signed up to the list which supposedly gets your name taken off of the records so these people do not phone you and yet I still get a least 1 a day and on some days numerous calls from the same number and the same person speaking.
I did finally manage to snooze until Simon came up with my breakfast at 9am. Once my heart beat had settled back down. If the phone rings in the middle of the night I automatically panic thinking something awful has happened. I can’t help it. Simon of course slept right through it even though I was leaping round the room looking for a phone which was on the floor on his side of the bed!!!
Breakfast was egg, bacon, toast and coffee. I read a magazine whilst eating it. Then we made a plan for the day. Well at least my dear husband did. The “sort of” plan the night before was that we would “maybe” go up to Stevenage for a few hours. He would visit his parents whilst I could go to the hospital to see my Mum. The plan was changed. Simon phoned his parents and discovered his brother was there for the day. (The same brother who hadn’t even bothered to tell Simon he was in the country!) All of a sudden the plan changes from popping up for a few hours to all day.
Now Simon knows I can’t spend all day at the hospital, it’s simply too much. He also knew that I was tired and stressed out so no way am I going up there all day. Who cares, the brother that we are oh so close too, yeah the one who he didn’t even know was here, who he never phones, and who never phones him is suddenly way more important than anything else.
Up shot was, I said do what you ****** like and so he did! He left about 11am. Why are men so inconsiderate? So I got up had a wash and set about some ironing. Because Simon has been on school holiday for the last week everything has gone to pot here and I am so far behind. The trouble is he is on holiday but I’m not and if I don’t do anything it doesn’t get done so I then have to catch up.
Look at these piles of washing and piles of ironing. I got them done and then I spent several hours making some bath salts and some bath bombs. (More of that tomorrow). I had hoped to get in the garden and re-pot my roses but by the time I was done with the bath bombs it was raining.
I spent a while on here doing bits and pieces and entering some competitions. As usual I didn’t eat lunch and as Simon was going to eat with “them” I didn’t have to cook dinner either. About 5pm I decided to go and have a bath and try out my new vanilla bath salts as I had some that would not fit into my jars. They do smell lovely but I could have done with more I think but I didn’t want to open one of the jars. I had a very relaxing bath reading a couple of magazines. By the time I was out at 6.30pm Simon had just got in.
I got dressed and gathered up some sewing and my kindle and a DVD of the new film “the black swan” to take to Coralie’s house as we were babysitting the boys. At least I thought “WE” were babysitting, turns out it was just me! On the way there we go past McDonalds so I got myself 2 small cheeseburgers as I was starving. Remember I had not eaten since breakfast.
When I got to Coralie’s the boys were only just out of the bath although the plan was they would be in bed. Evan knew was there so I went up to see them. I wish I had of had my camera with me as they look so cute all nakey, nakey! That’s Evans expression, nakey, nakey! The 2 little monkeys were all over me for my burgers. I ended up with about 1! No wonder I was hungry later.
Once they were in bed Coralie and John left. I don’t think their car had even turned the corner before Evan was shouting out “Nanny, Nanny” I ran up quick as I didn’t want him to wake Flynn. He was fine. He said “where have Mummy and Daddy gone”? I said they have just gone out for a while but Nanny is here to look after you. He said “oh ok”! I put him back in bed tucked him in, said goodnight and never heard another sound from him.
Barclay was a different kettle of fish. John had taken him out for a good walk before I got there in the hope that he would be tired out and he would sleep. No way! He would not settle. He wanted to play. I played for a while. He still wanted to play, wouldn’t leave me alone. I put him in the kitchen for time out and he just barked and barked. I had to let him back in because I was worried he would wake the little ones. We went on like that all evening. I couldn’t watch my film because he would not leave me alone. I couldn’t sew because he was trying to snatch it out of my hands. Nightmare! I do love him but I could have throttled him!
By the time Simon arrived back from his barn at 10.30pm I was a my wits end. I had indigestion from the hastily eaten burger and a headache from the dog. Simon of course had a lovely time at his barn! MEN! So very helpful!
Coralie and John got back about 11.30pm just after Simon had taken Barclay out for a walk. He was calmer when they got in. Typical. We drove the few minutes home where Simon promptly went to bed because he was tired. I stayed up until about 2am reading. All in all my 26th day of the month wasn’t great. Certainly not what I had planned. I didn’t even take photos after the few early ones. I somehow forgot.
I will try very hard to remember to do this again on the 26th of March which is also a Saturday and hopefully it might be a more interesting day.
