My day 26th of the month....sort of!

Well it is now Thursday the 30th of September.  Another month gone.  I forgot all about doing a “My day” blog on Sunday which was the 26th but I did remember to do it on Monday the 27th!!!  However, because I was in the middle of doing all the wedding blogs I didn’t want to post it.  So here it is today.  “My day blog ~ 26th of each month”, written on the 27th and posted on the 30th!!!
Monday morning!  I have brought the Walney weather back with me!  It is grey cold and raining.  Really depressing weather with horrible drizzly rain that is fine but still heavy and won’t give up!  YUK.  I’m not leaving the house today.
I have quite a lot to do so I am having a half hour day.  I am also going to try and do yesterdays “my day blog”.  So, let’s get started..... My day started at ten to eight when Simon came up with my breakfast.  Hmmm I had forgotten that I got that stupid cereal!
Let me explain.  When we were in Sainsbury’s on Saturday Simon was choosing his cereal and I spotted Special K.  You know the one; they say if you eat it you will look like the woman in the red dress on the box!  It’s the special challenge or something.
It comes in different flavours and the chocolate and strawberry took my fancy so in a moment of madness and confusion I got a box.  Hence that is what Simon served me for my breakfast this morning.  No eggs, no toast, just this silly bowl of cereal which did have strawberries but no amount of searching revealed any chocolate!
I bet I will be starving by lunch time and will probably have to stop what I am doing to cook eggs on toast.  Plus, I looked in the mirror just now and I don’t look anything like that bloody woman in the red dress.
Anyway, I ate my cereal and drank my coffee while catching up on a few emails and feeding a few zoo animals.  Then it was up, wash, dress and wash my hair.  I also cleaned the bathroom before heading downstairs to see my doggies and get started on the kitchen.  The rotten rain has even put the dogs off from venturing outside today. They are currently all sleeping on their favourite chairs in the living room.
Alfie, who hasn't really got green eyes!

I have got a load of washing in the machine and I have cleaned the inside of my kitchen windows and reorganised the plants that reside on the window sill.  My last pepper plant from the garden has come inside.  Its peppers are still very small so I thought that I would try bringing it indoors to see if they will grow larger.  Left outside it will die. I have also emptied the dishwasher and I am about half through the rest of the cleaning.  It’s coffee time now so I am doing some computing.
Its 11.15am and I have just completed a work half hour.  I have cleaned the cooker and I have stripped yesterday’s chicken carcass.  The good breast meat has been set aside for tonight’s dinner.  Simon has requested a homemade chicken and leek pie.  The carcass has been boiled and stripped which I always do to get off every last scarp for my dogs.  I then boil up some rice in the stock which gets mixed up with the scraps for their dinner. They love it!
I have put on a second load of washing and the first load is now in the tumble drier.  I have also sorted out a whole load of marigold seeds. I had some pods drying so I have extracted the seeds from these and put the rest back to continue drying out.  I have a gazillion seeds!
So it’s now time for a “me half hour”!
I’m back again!  Its 12.15 now and I am back for another “me” half hour!  I have hoovered all of the upstairs and tidied up. I am now uploading some photos.  I have posted an album of wedding preparation photos too. I did a bit of tidying in the garden, emptying more hanging baskets and bringing in some ripe tomatoes and some potatoes from the shed. I still have some roses blooming.
Some home grown tomatoes.  The small yellow ones are very sweet.
This is one of my Brandy Wines which are an old heritage variety. They haven't done that well as they did not have enough sun to ripen.  There were loads of fruits many of which are still green and I am trying to ripen them with the aid of a banana.  This one isn't that big.  Some of them are huge.
A few potatoes for dinner.
See those empty baskets?
This is one of my small patio roses that is still in bloom.
Lots of ironing got done.
By 2pm as predicted I was feeling hungry.  I don't very often eat lunch but I felt the need for a sandwich so it was hard boiled egg and tomato.
Well it is nearly dinner time now.  Simon is going to serve it for me.  I have got loads done! A BIG pile of ironing and I have hoovered throughout.  I moved the furniture around in the living room.  I hate doing that.  In fact we have our furniture in the same place for years.  It’s a security blanket thing for me I think.  I feel all odd when we make changes.  I could never be one of those people who rearrange their rooms every few weeks.
Anyway, Simon had moved the small sofa the other day because I was cold.  The heating was on but the sofa is against the radiator so it blocks all the heat.  Simon moved it in front of the book case but it looked silly.  So today, I have swapped it around with the arm chair.  That is now by the radiator and the small sofa is on the opposite side with the large sofa still under the window!  I don’t like it!
I also did a few more jobs in the kitchen including labelling up my tomato sauce for the freezer.  They are all packed away now.  Then it was time to make the chicken and leek pie which Simon had requested for dinner.  It took ages.  It has turned out really well but it doesn’t look great as I don’t have a pie dish so I had to make it in a shallow casserole dish.  I am going to check out Lakeland online tonight and see if I can order myself a pie dish!
Well Simon was happy with his pie and there is enough left over to have it again tomorrow which will make a quick dinner.  I could have frozen it but because of the lack of a proper pie dish it was falling apart as it was served.  I did try to take a photo but the batteries went on my camera and I don’t have any charged up, so no more photos today.
Once dinner was over and the dishwasher loaded we sat in the living room with our coffee.  Simon wants to use my computer (he still hasn’t purchased a new one...probably this weekend).  So I need to get off of here now.  I am going to check out the sky planner as there are a few things that I want to record.
Well there you have it.  That was my day on Monday the 27th of September 2010.  Hopefully I may actually remember to do Octobers one on the correct day!
I am going to have a fairly lazy day today.  Most things are up to date and I have already done the ironing this morning.  I think I might do some sewing and maybe some family history research this afternoon. R&R for me!
