Yes it’s that time of day again. This is the last photo challenge for the month of November and it is: 30. Your favourite kitchen utensil.
This is going to be easy and I have chosen the same thing as many of you. It is a knife. It isn’t however a very posh, very shiny, very sharp knife like some that I have seen this morning. It is in fact a very old, very blunt knife with teeth marks in the handle!
First though I just want to show you a new little vegetable knife that Simon got me last year. It’s PINK! It is also very sharp. I can’t use it! It just doesn’t feel right. I have no idea why. I can’t peel a blessed thing with it. It feels like it is going to slip any second and chop off my fingers. I have a fear of cutting my fingers so it is a no go. You may remember that Verity cut her finger very badly with a knife back in the summer before the wedding. It has healed but the back of her finger is an odd shape now!
Anyway, here is my favourite kitchen utensil. As I said it is old and blunt but I can cut anything with it and it peels all my veggies with ease. If you look closely you will see that the plastic handle has teeth marks on it! That was Rosie when she was a puppy which tells you just how long we have had this set of knives!
We keep saying we will buy a new set and in fact we intended to do just that when we went to the BBC Good Food show back in June. We had seen and tried out, a really great set of ceramic knives the year before which we really liked and that was what we were going to buy, of course this year they didn’t have them. No doubt we will get round to it at some point and no doubt I will go back to my trusty blunt chewed up one!
Now hopefully you have all seen the list of December challenges the first of which is: 1. Something green. When I started these back in October and it was just Pam and I the name I had chosen was “A Photo a Day Challenge”. It’s a mouthful! I have noticed that people are now calling it a variety of things which is fine. Eg Jilly’s photo thingy, The daily photo, Jilly’s photo whatsit, APADC, I don’t really care what it’s called it’s just nice that so many have now joined in and that so many have thanked me personally for doing it. I know lots of people have even made new friends with others who are doing the challenges.
That brings me to my point. Challenge is not really the right word. They aren’t challenges they are more like suggested themes. So I am going to call it Jilly’s daily photo theme. You could call it: The daily photo theme, or DPT, or the photo theme thingamajig or ......call it what you like ok but from now on I shall call them themes.
To my knowledge there are now around 20 people joining in and most are doing it every day! I think the list in my notes section is up to date but if you want a name added to it, your own or someone you know is joining in, then let me know and I will update it.
Lastly you will notice in December’s list that there are just a couple of suggestions for themes from other people. I haven’t ignored the suggestions I was given but December was pretty much already done. I have now got a list done for January and half of February. You will see your suggestions coming up there. If you have more suggestions PLEASE tell me as the longer we do this the harder it will become to think up ideas. I am keeping an ongoing list.
Ok, that’s me done here for now, going to do some typing for Simon and then hopefully some family history stuff.
