Quick Sunday catch up

I have had a sort of busy day although I don't seem to have got that much done!  It took me absolutely ages this morning to sort out and programme our new telephones.  I finally got round to buying a new set on Friday.  We had got down to only 1 working phone out of 4 which was very inconvenient as we could never find it!  It was always in some other place to where we were.
As we have a 3 story house it is necessary to have at least 3 phones so there is one on each level.  The 4th one goes in Saskias bedroom to hopefully ensure she doesn't walk off with any of the others.  Anyway, they are all done and in place now, so we should be Ok when the phone rings.
Verity went back to Southampton at lunch time.  Simon dropped her at the station and then went to the barn.  Josh left with Charlotte to go back to Bedford late this afternoon and Saskia is staying with a friend until tomorrow when she will pop home briefly before going to Uni.
I did a bit of washing and ironing and managed to ruin my iron!  I was trying to cook dinner at the same time and it didn't work!  I haven't burnt anything in years, but I had the iron hotter than I realised and burnt a huge hole in a pair of my decent smart trousers!  It kind of melted onto the sole plate and won't come off whatever I try!
I have tried scrubbing it, scrapping it, a brillo pad and chipping it off when it's cold.  We even tried doing it while it was on and sort of melted but it's just a mess. I can't see that we can get it off at all so I will need a new iron ASAP.  I hadn't even had this one long.  They'll be a blog about it somewhere in the last 2 years!  Me and irons don't get along, they never last.  They usually go bang!  Don't ask me why.  This will be the first one to die like this.
Fortunately dinner turned out very well.  It was a lovely lamb stew and there is enough for me and Saskia to have it again tomorrow evening which will save me having to cook.  Simon goes straight from school to his welding class so he doesn’t need dinner on Mondays.
This evening has been quiet and relaxed.  I have entered lots of competitions and added a new gizmo to my site.  I watched the strictly come dancing results show while Simon watched the new series of Top gear.  I was very pleased to see that the public voted John Seargant back in again. He is so funny.
Tomorrow I have absolutely loads to do.  The house has deteriorated over this half term week as it always does when there are more people at home, plus we were away until Wednesday and I just haven’t got caught up.  I think my half hour system may need to be used so that I don’t get too bogged down.  All work and no play just isn’t good for us!  Time for a glass of the red stuff now!
