The Autumn Equinox has passed and autumn is officially here. It seem to me like it has been here for weeks and weeks!
Ok, It’s Tuesday now and I am going to try and recreate the blog that I did yesterday and then lost. It wasn’t Multiplys fault, it was my own, I clicked on “close tab” and it was the wrong tab!! Actually while I think of it, does anyone know anything about the draft facility in the media locker??? I have read about it in the help files; in fact they suggest that you check it out for long lost blogs. I don’t seem to have a draft facility though?
Back to yesterdays blog......... it went something like this....... I have a lot of jobs to get done today as I have had 4 days on the trot where nothing much has been done because I have been busy with other stuff. As you all know I had to go to the dentist on Friday and then I went swimming with Coralie and Evan. My tooth is much better now, but still giving some pain. I have a few more days of antibiotics to go yet, so hopefully it will improve. Somebody asked if I needed to have the tooth out but I don’t as it is an abscess on the gum, so not really the tooth at all.
On Saturday we took Joshua up to Bedford where he is about to start University. He was so excited. We also took Charlottes stuff but she travelled with some other friends. When we arrived he had to go and get signed in and collect his key before we could unpack the car. Having done this twice before we were very impressed with the organisation, there were lots of staff and second year students on hand to help and the whole process only took about 10 minutes, very slick.
The campus is laid out around a grassed area and has a communal lounge with TV and pool tables, a 24 reception, security desk, a shop, a canteen, coffee shop, launderette, a gym and of course the student union bar!! The buildings have 2 or 3 floors each and this is divided into “flats” with 5 bedrooms to each. Each flat has a shared kitchen, with open plan dining and a lounge area to seat 6. The girls never had anywhere they could sit down in comfort. He is really lucky and hopefully the excellent facilities will ensure his successful study!
We were also very impressed with his room. It is about 4 times the size of the tiny “cell” that Coralie lived in for 3 years. It also has an en-suite shower and toilet!! The halls of residence, Liberty Park, were only built a year ago so everything still looks brand new and immaculate. Coralie and Verity would have given their right arms for such lovely accommodation.
We helped unload the car and I made up his bed for him and then we went across to see Charlottes room. Charlotte is also just beginning her degree at Bedford but she is studying media. She is in the block just opposite Josh about 2 minutes away, very convenient! She got a better deal with the view as she looks out over the playing fields whereas Josh looks out onto the car park! I don’t suppose he’ll spend much time looking out though!
Charlotte had a lot more stuff than Josh. Actually our girls had a lot more stuff too. Must be a boy thing to travel light! I did notice that he had a crate of beer! It is fresher’s week though and he is a very sensible young man, so I didn’t comment!!
We had a look round the campus and went to buy him a wrist band for all the fresher’s week events. They get in free to everything if they have a wrist band. Then it was time to say goodbye and good luck and behave yourself. I think he was waiting for us to go so he could get stuck in!
It was way easier 3rd time round. I remember how upset I was when Coralie went to university and she was living in Stevenage which is where my family are, so I knew she would be OK. Nothing was as hard as Saskia going to live and work abroad at the age of 17 though! I cried all the way home from the airport. I was so worried about her. As it turned out everything worked out well and she lived abroad for 4 years. I think that is why she is such a mature young woman now.
Speaking of Saskia, her first week at university went well and this week sees her begin her actual classes. Unfortunately her time table has worked out that she has to be there every day which will mean that she can’t teach one day a week at the Voyager as planned. That leaves her with less money and an extra day’s train fare to pay. It’s a real shame as most days she only has a few hours of classes.
After we dropped Joshua, we went onto Stevenage as it is about half way. We picked my Dad up and I went with him to the hospital to see my Mum, while Simon went to see his own parents. My mum wasn’t too bad, but Dad still irritates her by trying to make her eat all the time. We dropped Dad back and got home early evening.
Sunday was spent shopping at Hampton with Coralie and Saskia. I ended up buying myself a lovely wrap dress which I probably don’t need! Saskia got some dance clothes that she needed and Coralie did her grocery shopping. Sam and Lisa also called in for a short while with Ellie.
That reminds me... some of you have asked about Sam. He is fine, just a touch of backache, probably due to the impact. He was hit head on by another car on his way to work. He goes through Fotheringhay (A very famous village, steeped in Royal, British history, but most famous for being the place where Mary Queen of Scots was tried and beheaded in 1587!) There are 2 bridges close together and the road is very narrow. The speed limit is 30. Sam had seen the other car and had stopped to let it go. It sounds as if it was a little too fast as it hit the bridge first and then went straight into Sam. Unfortunately his car was written off but, we think he was actually very lucky and it could have been a whole lot worse.
That brings me to yesterday which was spent catching up on housework on my half hour system. I got everything done and lots of “me” time. Today as everything is up to date, I have been able to whip through really fast. I will have some ironing later, but only a little bit. I also need to walk up to the shops as I need some ingredients to make some cakes and a few other bits. I am trying to judge the weather so I don’t get soaked in the rain!
Last night, I finally signed myself up for Multiply Premium and I had fun messing around with my page. It’s a bit cluttered now though so I need to sort it out a bit. I am still looking into how to get my title bar and navigation buttons to show over the new theme. If I can’t then I’ll change it again. Right time to do some other stuff now.
