1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Oh dear I’m not off to a good start as I can’t think of anything! Oh I know I went to meet a blog friend for the first time. I had not previously met any of my online friends but I had wanted to for ages. As you all know I made the long journey up t’North to Barrow back in September to meet Mickey. It was a brilliant experience one that I hope to repeat this coming year. Sadly I don’t know if I will be able to visit any of you Merikans although it is in the back of my mind.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I don’t make resolutions as I never keep them and I have never been able to see what is so special about the 1st of January anyway. If you want to make changes you can start on any day of the year. I did look back at my blog to see what I had written last year. I’ll show you: - 2010 needs to be the year where I look after myself and get a better level of health and fitness. This is not a New Year’s resolution you understand. I don’t make them as they are doomed to failure. Plus, I figure if you want to make changes any old day of the year is as good as the next.
There are lots of issues to address, some big, such as losing some weight, others smaller like cutting down on the red stuff and the milky brown stuff and sorting out my manky foot! So I don’t get bogged down and doom myself to failure I decided that I would take baby steps each week and try and stick with them to form new routines and habits. Remember the saying..... How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
See what I mean? Am I any fitter or healthier one year on? Absolutely not!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My daughter in law Lisa gave birth to my 4th grandchild in November. The beautiful Jessica Madison.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not in 2010. I have a feeling though that 2011 could see me losing several of my loved ones.
5. What countries did you visit?
Well we did go to Jersey in the summer but I’m not sure it counts as a different country! We had to fly to get there! LOL. I really need to visit a nice hot country ....right now....I need sun. It is not looking likely that Simon and I will be able to get a holiday anywhere this year as our dog sitter (Coralie) now has a pup to look after as well as her 2 boys. She can’t really move into our house to dog sit any more. No idea what the others will be doing. We’ll see.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Energy!
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
There are two. The 14th of August 2010 was the day Verity married Steve and the 4th of November the day my new little Granddaughter was born.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I’m not sure that I can really say I achieved anything. Maybe making 200 meters of bunting for the wedding!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not managing to get myself any fitter or healthier.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I started the year with a cold virus and sickness bug. I ended it with a cold virus! I had the normal headaches and of course I had trouble with insect bites one of which ended up causing something called cellulitis and I had my leg all bandaged up for a few days back in August. I shall have to try and be much more careful this year particularly at the allotment. Thank goodness I can’t report any injuries.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I hardly ever buy myself anything so I’m not sure what I should answer. I had lots of lovely things bought for me by Simon including some lovely charms and beads for my bracelet.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Saskia and Josh continuing to work hard and do well at University. They are in their final year now.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Joshua’s when he let us down over our holiday. He was supposed to be dog sitting....it’s a long story but we felt very disappointed in him that he didn’t seem to care. He is usually so good.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Oh if only I knew!
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Verity and Steve’s wedding and the birth of Jessica.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
I rarely play music and I never have the radio on so I couldn’t really even name a 2010 song!
I don't know what happened to #17!! I assume who ever started this couldn’t count!
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Travelling and going on holiday!
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Getting stressed out.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
At home with family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Absolutely! The minute I set eyes on Jessica.
22. What was your favourite TV program?
Eastenders as always, although I did watch all of the Strictly Come Dancing series this year and really enjoyed it.
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don’t like to call it hate but the same people I disliked last year are the same ones that I will dislike this year!
24. What was the best book you read?
I don’t know how I could choose as I read so many! I have just read “What Katy Did” on my new Kindle. I enjoyed it as it brought back happy memories of reading as a child. I never had my nose out of a book and I still don’t
25. What was your greatest musical discovery of 2010?
My voice upsets Evan when I sing!
26. What did you want and get?
A video camera and a Kindle were the big things.
27. What did you want and not get?
A snugly blanket was on my Christmas list but I didn’t get one which is why I am sitting here all cold right now! When we were in Leicester on Thursday we saw a nice purple one in the sale and I dropped lots of hints but they fell on deaf ears. The deaf eared one did however buy me a new lingerie set in the sales! It cost the same as the snugly!
28. What was your favourite film of this year?
I don’t watch many films and I don’t recall that we went to the cinema at all. I saw a few on the TV but none that made an impression. I hardly watch TV except Eastenders.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had a lovely lazy day at home and all the family came. They cooked a lovely meal for me between them and it was just a nice relaxed day. I’m 46 of course, haven’t I told you that before! Well I celebrated the 5th anniversary of my 46th anyway!
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
The impossible....having my Mum fit and well and able to join in all the family occasions. Of course that will never happen.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Personal fashion concept??????? HUH?????? I have never in my life had a PFC! Never likely too either. Whatever comes to hand in the morning is what I wear! I am mostly at home so not required to put too much thought into what I wear. PFC!!!! I would love to know who started this!
32. What kept you sane?
The red stuff and the milky brown stuff and the occasional bar of chocolate!!! (I’m not always sure I am sane!)
