Thursday 10th March

OK, own up, one of you has stolen the sun.  In fact not only has my sun been stolen but someone has sent nasty horrid wind. It isn't too bad really I suppose.  It's sort of warmish, 50 degrees according to yahoo.  There are lots of clouds but they are white and fluffy and the sky is blue which is much better than grey.  The wind is really blowing though.

I don't know what it feels like as I haven't ventured out yet.  I shall go up to the post office this afternoon but I'll go on my bike so I can whizz there and back real quick.  Well quick for me anyway!

I had a good day yesterday. I worked the half hour system and got loads done and lots of Me time.  ( A new friend asked about the system. The system is work for half an hour doing all the chores or whatever has to be done then have half an hour for yourself to do whatever your little heart pleases.  Repeat for the whole day.  Lots gets done but you have time for yourself too!)

I didn't quite finish the house work,  I still had the downstairs level to hoover when I noticed the hoover wasn't picking up.  On investigation it seems the brush wasn't going round.  I left it for Simon to mend for me but then forgot to tell him!  That means I can't finish it today either!  It will have to wait for tomorrow.

In my "me" time I did loads. I made a couple of cards, made some bread, made some fairy cakes (yeah, adventurous I know!)  made 2 lots of scented body scrub, did lots of blogging, entered some online competitions and re-potted some of my seedlings into individual pots.

These are spring onion seedlings.

Lots of seedlings here on my kitchen table.  The ones in the toilet roll tubes are parsnips.  I started them off like this last year and they did really well.  You plant the whole cardboard tube into the ground.  The last of my home grown parsnips are now in my freezer.  Last night we had a quick dinner of homemade parsnip and apple soup with home made bread.  The apples were from our own tree.

Today since I am fairly up to date I am having a craft day.  I have done the basic chores, cleaning and tidying the kitchen and bathroom.  I have a long day today as Simon is in school until 9pm so I don't have to cook any dinner.  I hate cooking just for me.  Last week I ended up just having a slice of cake.

We have our sewing session tonight with my friend Denise so the first thing I have been doing is getting the seams on my skirt all over-sewn with zigzag stitch.  I haven't used zigzag before so I had to play around with it to get the length and width right.  It's quite hard to sew along the seams and not go off the edge!  Tonight she is going to show us how to put the zip in!  It shouldn't be too long before it is finished and I can model it for you!

Must think about what to make next and get some fabric.

Now I have finished my coffee I am going to start on 3 more monkey bodies.  Eric and Ernie are parceled up with little cross stitch cards ready to go to  2 baby boys in Merilka.  Kenny the red monkey is still awaiting a scarf.  It would have been finished but Coralie promised me some white wool and I haven't seen it yet.

Many of you know that I am also trying to learn to crochet  with the help of my friend Dixie.  It is much harder than it looks!  I need more fingers.  Dixie makes it look very easy.  She has made some great videos which are open to everyone so if you are interested take a look.  She is on my contacts.  I will be practising a bit more later.

Right, time to get on with those monkey bodies.
