Thursday 22nd January

Good morning all.  I am having a lazy day today.  By that, I mean it’s now just gone midday and I have done absolutely nothing!  I can’t even think what I have been doing really!  I do recall that I have tidied the kitchen and got a load of washing on.  I seem to get days like this every now and then.  I’m not sure why. I just run out of steam and motivation.
I don't think it helps that I look out of the windows and all I see is grey.  I would prefer it to snow!  Only if it is proper snow, like inches thick and covering everything.  That would be lovely and I could be all cosy inside!  We never get that kind of snow here.  Only on about 3 occasions in the time we have lived here.  (24 years)  If we get snow it's about an inch and turns to slush over night and disappears in 24 hours.
I had a lovely day yesterday with Ellie.  She is great!  She copies absolutely everything I say!  She even uses the same tone of voice!  You should just hear her say “Be quiet dogs!”.  We walked up to the library and collected my 2 books so I now have some more reading to do.  The first is the “Which guide to fruit and vegetable growing” and the second is “Delia’s guide to growing and cooking fruit and veg”.  I had a flick through last night and they look good.
This morning the postman came with some of the stuff that we have ordered.  I need to look later and see what I need to do with it.  I believe the onions must be unpacked and put somewhere cool until needed. I don’t want them perishing before we get them in the ground!
We decided last night to get rid of the old family computer that sits on our middle landing.  It’s the one that I used to use until Simon got me my own one a few years back which is currently in my bedroom.  We kept it so the family could use it, but of course they don’t because they all have their own lap tops and only Saskia lives here anyway.  It’s very old and slow.
Today I am supposed to be going through it to check that there is nothing on there that we want.  I’m sure there isn’t but you never know.  Once that is done, I will wipe the hard drive which Simon will take out and destroy.  Unfortunately it will then go to the dump.  I know we could Free Cycle it but we find that too worrying just in case it got into the wrong hands and our personal details were able to be retrieved.  That is still possible even when the hard drive is wiped... if you know what you are doing.
Once we get rid of it, I am considering bringing my computer down to put in its place.  The reason that I originally had it in my bedroom was to stop the children using it.  It was mine and for my use only and if it was in a communal area it would have been used because it was new and fast.  That of course isn’t the case now.  (It is still fast but there are no children here to use it!  LOL!)
The thing is we could do with more space in our bedroom and also quite often in the evening I will be up here at my desk and Simon will be downstairs in the living room watching TV or doing school work.  If I move it we will be in the same area!  We can talk to each other without having to shout down the stairs!  Another plus would be that Simon could sleep in our bed!  Often, he wants to go to sleep much earlier than me so he will go down to sleep in Verity’s old room so that I can carry on at my computer.  If we move it then he can go to bed and I can come up when I am tired.
I hate change though, so I will have to give this some more thought!  I have never been one of those people who move their stuff around all the time.  I like everything to always be the same.  Even if we decorate everything goes back in the same place.  Simon’s mother used to move her furniture around more or less every few weeks.  It never looked the same.
I also want to bake some bread today and make a cake as we have run out.  Wii Fit is on my agenda too. So I guess I should get off my backside and get into action!  Maybe a cup of coffee first so I can sit and enter some competitions!  Back later.
