Today's thirteen are things that mean something to me beginning with the letter "O". As usual they are in no particular order!!
1. Osmonds. My favourite group all through my teenage years. I particularly loved Donny. I think I thought I would marry him one day! I did a blog on them a while back.
2. Olive oil. We do most of out cooking with Olive oil. I can't stand cheap, nasty veg oils.
3. Opals. The crystals with all the pretty colours not the chewy sweets! Opal is my birth stone.
4. October. The best month of all because it is my birthday month!!
5. Orchids. I adore the flowers but hate the smell.
6. Opportunity. We tried very hard to give all 5 of our children lots of different opportunities. They were able to try things that we certainly didn't have the opportunity to do.
8. Optician. I have reached the age where this year, it was necessary for me to visit the optician for the first time. I now have to wear reading glasses for all "close" work.
9. Operations. I have had several operations during my life. These were all mainly in my teens. I had 2 operations on my right wrist and three on my left wrist. I also had an operation when I was sixteen to remove an ovarian cyst.
10. Orthodontist. All 5 of my children went to the Orthodontist at one time or another. Out of the 5, there were 4 of them that required braces, so I spent years going backwards and forwards to the Orthodontist. I also spent what felt like years in the waiting room!!
11. Outlaws. I'm none to keen on Outlaws!! You would need to be a friend of Willy's to understand this!!!
12. Ocean. I like the sound and smell of the ocean. We lived in a sea side town many years ago and there is nothing that compares to the fresh sea air.
13. Opinions. I have very string opinions on a lot of things and I am not scared to share them!!
Well that's today's thirteen, but I am going to add another........... Onomatopoeia. I can remember learning this word at school and just loving it for the way it rolls of the tongue. Also because it is difficult to spell and because although a lot of people know it, they often can't say what it means.

What does it mean? Onomatopoeia is a word that imitates the sound it represents. EG: Splash, wow, gush, kerplunk , pop, crash etc.
