Tuesday Thirteen (copy)

Today’s Tuesday Thirteen is thirteen things beginning with the letter " C ", that have some relevance or meaning for me.

These are in no particular order. Coralie is obviously the most important, but coffee should probably have come before chocolate!
1. Coralie. My eldest daughter who I love very much and of whom I am very proud. She has achieved so much and I admire her tremendously. She is my best friend. She was born on the 1st of August 1982 in Sidmouth, Devon. She will soon be 25! She is a midwife and has delivered way too many babies to count any more!
2. Carly. My niece Carly who is the daughter of my sister Julie. She has turned out to be a lovely young woman and is currently working for the government after finishing her degree last year.
3. Chinese food. I love Chinese take aways. We treat ourselves occasionally and my favourite is prawns or chicken in black bean sauce with green peppers. I also love prawn balls.
4. Cherished teddies. I used to collect these little ornaments and still have some around the house. I got the bug from my Mum who started to collect them. I only have a few now as they no longer appeal to me as much. I do like all kinds of Teddy Bears though!
5. Canaries. I love the Canary Islands. Lots of hot sun and lovely beaches. Tenerife is my favourite so far although we are going to Fuerterventura in October and I may prefer that as it is quieter. Lanzarote is nice but very windy.
6. Cream. I like cream with anything!!
7. Crystals. I have collected Crystals for years and have quite a few different ones. I like them partly because they are pretty and partly for their apparent healing powers. I sleep with a piece of Amethyst under my pillow as it is supposed to help insomnia. I have to say it doesn't seem to work but I have had it for years and it is just habit to always put it under my pillow.
A few years back when my sister found herself single once more, I gave her a piece of Rose Quartz as it is said to bring love into your life if you sleep with it under your pillow. I wrapped it up for her in tissue. At the time she laughed, but she did put it under her pillow. Well, Julie........ my Rose Quartz was obviously what brought Pete to you!! Julie got remarried in May!
8. Catholic. I was not really brought up in any kind of faith. As a child my parents only really took us to church at Christmas, and for Mothers day and Easter. I was married in a local Church of England Parish Church. After we married, we investigated several religions together. Eventually we settled on Catholicism, which is what Simon already was. I was confirmed into the Catholic church and we went regularly for many years. All of our children went to Catholic schools. We are now "lapsed" for various reasons.
9. Citroen. We have had a Citroen car for many years now. It was the first car that we ever had brand new. It smelt so lovely the day we got it!! It is a bit battered now with a few small dents. It is also showing it's age and is playing up dreadfully at the moment. Simon is trying to sort it out but we may have to resort to taking it to the garage. We don't want to buy a new car right now because the dogs would just wreck it!!
10. Cambridge. I live in Cambridgeshire and the county town is Cambridge. I have been there many times and I really like it even though it is dreadful for parking.
11. Chocolate. I like Chocolate! I like good quality organic milk Chocolate. I used to eat any but my tastes are more refined now! I don't eat it very often.
12. Coffee. What can I say? I drink about 10 cups a day! Yes, I know it's not good for me but what the heck.
13. Christmas. I absolutely love Christmas. We always spend it at home with all the family. When the children were little it was just so wonderful to see their faces when they realised that "Santa had been"! Hopefully we will now be able to see little Ellie enjoying Christmas. As the children have grown up it has changed, but they still have stockings. Last year I said it was the last year I was going to do them but I am sure I will change my mind when the time comes.
