I have been busy with housework and cooking today. I walked up to the post office this morning and then when I got back, I got down to some baking. I have made a loaf of bread in the bread maker which looks perfect for once. I hope it tastes as good as it looks. I iced the cakes that I made yesterday and then I made a lemon and almond sponge cake. You sandwich it together with lemon curd and fresh cream. It was a new recipe and it is delicious because I tasted it for my lunch.
As I was in the swing of things I thought I may as well get ahead for tonight's dinner. I have made an apple and mango crumble for dessert. I needed to use those mango's that Simon forgot about last week. I looked on the Internet this morning a found a nice sounding recipe for mango chicken.
You dry fry a load of spices and garlic and then add the mango and simmer it all up for 20 minutes before the chicken gets added. I thought I may as well get that made then I can just add the chicken and do some rice while Simon walks the dogs this evening. Once I had it done, I left it on the cooker as it was hot. I never dreamt the dogs would attempt to touch it as it is so spicey.
WRONG! I went out just now to put some stuff in my recycling bin and when I came back in, I caught Alfie eating it straight from the pan. He had over half of it! I am so cross with that dog! I really shouted at him which he hates and he got his nose shook too. He hates being in trouble and is trembling in his box. I told him he had to stay there. I have come upstairs to have some coffee to calm down. He is crying now because I have shut him in the kitchen. No, there is nothing he can get and he won't leave his box now anyway!
Goodness knows what we will have for dinner now! I was so organised too. I think it might just have to be plain chicken and rice as I can't get the motivation to do anything else. I know Simon won't want to either as he is going to his barn tonight. I am cross, cross, cross!
OK time for another meme while I sit here and calm down! This is Random 5.
1. Name one thing you do everyday.* It's obvious is't it? I Blog!
2. Name two things you wish you could learn.
* I had ballroom dancing lessons when I was younger and would like Simon to take classes with me.
* A foreign language. I would l love to be fluent in another language, French or Spanish maybe. No time to learn at the moment though.

3. Name three things that remind you of your childhood.
* Comics. I used to get Bunty and Judy. They were small and printed on news print type paper. They were sort of in colour though. You don't see anything like them now.
* Ice cream vans. You don't seem to see them going round the streets any more, at least not round here. When I was a child the ice cream van came every day at about the same time. We would listen out for his jingle.

In summer when we played outside in the street, we would dash in to ask if we could have one. Sometimes by the time Mum agreed and found some money, he would have moved down to the bottom of the road and we'd have to chase after him. He used to sell blocks of ice cream too and sometimes Mum would get one of those and slice it up for dessert.
* Space hoppers. They are back in the shops again. I had one for my birthday one year.

4. Name four things you love to eat but rarely do.
* Roast lamb with mint sauce. We don't have it often as it is expensive.
* Fried skate in garlic butter. This is expensive too.
* Scones, strawberry jam and real clotted cream. I don't very often have this as it is very stodgy and fattening.
* Fried chicken livers. They are very fiddly to prepare, so Simon does them for me occasionally as a treat.

Right, I'm still not feeling calm but I think I need to go and check on that BAD DOG and then think again about dinner.
