Wednesday already!

Well as you can see it’s a week since I have really done any blogging, although I did manage 2 yesterday. I just haven’t had much time or inclination recently. Simon went back to school yesterday so hopefully, I may soon get back into my normal routines and have a bit more time.
We had a busy week last week. Monday we went to the Triangular Lodge, which I did a blog on yesterday. Tuesday we caught up on some jobs. Wednesday we went to a farm about 15 minutes drive away called Sacrewell. It is years since I have been there. We ended up taking Ellie with us as well as they were having their central heating fitted and it wasn’t real good for Ellie with all the men in the house and the floor boards torn up etc..  See Sacrewell here: http://www.sacrewell.org.uk/
I am so pleased that we ended up having her that day as she was just a little angel and really enjoyed seeing all the animals at the farm. I think the ducks were her favourites closely followed by the sheep. She already knows about ducks as they have them on the river that runs through Bourne where they live. She really liked feeding them.  See bourne here : http://homepages.which.net/~rex/bourne/   This has a photo of the river where the ducks are.
The sheep were very noisy and we kept making “baa” noises for her, like the sheep. After a while she got the hang of that and now if you ask her what the sheep say she says “BAAAA” “BAAAA” very loudly! It’s so funny. I have posted some video and some photos.
On Thursday, Simon went into his old school, The Voyager, as it was the GCSE results day. He went on from there to his new school to start getting set up for the new term. I spent the day catching up on house work. In the evening we ended up having baby Evan here so that Coralie could go out for a meal with some of her friends from work. She had intended to take him along but they hadn’t had a great day! It was the first time she had ever left him in his 8 weeks, so it was a bit emotional for her. She has got over it though as we are having him again this coming Saturday so that her and John can go out for a meal together.
Friday we went to Milton Keynes, shopping. Saskia, Lisa and little Ellie came too. None of us really did any actual shopping due to a lack of money, but we did have a really nice lunch out and it was pleasant to wander around. We haven’t been to Milton Keynes for years. It is about a 70 minute drive away and has a huge shopping centre. It doesn’t really have anything that we don’t have in Peterborough, but it’s nice just to go some where different for a change. Ellie was very, very good.
On Saturday, we mainly did housework and then had a barbecue in the late afternoon. I imagine it will be the last opportunity this year as summer has now nearly gone and the weather over the next few weeks is not predicted to be good. I can’t believe how awful this summer has been and that it is now nearly gone. One more week and it is officially autumn.
On Sunday, Simon and I went up to Stevenage to see my Dad and to visit my Mum in the hospital. She wasn’t too bad and the visit was fairly brief as we didn’t go up until the afternoon. Simon went into school on Monday and I did my normal housework. Saskia was here for a while bringing over some of her stuff. She has to be out of her flat by Friday morning this week. She is coming back to live at home as she is going to University in October.
Simon started at his new school yesterday. It is the Thomas Deacon Academy, the flag ship of Tony Blair’s “Academies”! Yesterday and today are training days and then the children starts back on Thursday. The Academies have a different term system to ordinary schools which is why they have gone back a week earlier than normal. They work extra weeks.  See the school here:http://www.thomasdeaconacademy.com/page_viewer.asp?page=Home&pid=1
Saskia is returning to The Voyager next week. She is working three more weeks before the University term starts. Joshua has decided that he will just laze around!! He finished at the end of term. He is going to do his degree at Bedford and will be living in student accommodation at Liberty Park. Trust me, Connie, this is nothing like your students have!
Saskia is doing her degree at De Montford University in Leicester. She hasn’t totally decided yet, but it is likely that rather than living in student accommodation she will live at home and commute. University should at most, only involve 4 days a week, possibly three. The Voyager school are going to keep her on, one or two days a week in the Performing Arts department, so she will have a bit of income.
This week looks like being another busy one for me. We have to get all the stuff from Saskias flat moved back here so that we can get it cleaned tomorrow. My house is in chaos as Saskia has a lot of stuff including furniture, which we have to accommodate until it is decided what is happening to it. She comes home, complete with a hamster in a cage! I thought we were done with tiny furry creatures in our house!! It is called Biscuit. We have to make sure that her bedroom door is always locked, so that doggies don’t find “Biscuit”!!
We are also giving Saskias room a fresh coat of paint. The furniture has all been moved to enable that. More chaos!! Hopefully it will be painted tomorrow and we can begin to get organised. Simon isn’t happy as he had been using the desk in Saskias room for school work. Now he has been displaced and doesn’t have a desk! He has a lot more work to do at home with the new promotion, so we may have to buy another desk. I have no idea where we will put it as the house is pretty full!
I still don’t know where we are going to put the travel cot which has been in Saskias room up until now. I need it to be up all the time ready for when I have the grand babies here. Yesterday, I met Coralie in town for a while so I didn’t get much done here. That means that today I need to really motivate myself. So far, I have cleaned the bathroom and kitchen and done lots of ironing. There is still more to do and the washing machine is still on. Hopefully by next week, we will be getting back to normal and I will be organised.
