Weekend catch up

Another weekend has nearly gone.  How comes they go so quick? What have I done? Friday was taken up with lots of house work as per normal.  I can’t even remember now why I didn’t find any blogging time.  I did spend a fair while making a Cornish pasty pie.  It’s a sort of giant Cornish pasty.  The idea is that you get much more filling and less pastry. It turned out really good but could have done with a bit more seasoning. It was all eaten though.
Yesterday we had Ellie for a while so that Sam could get on with some stuff.  She was a good girl as always. Her latest expressions are, “fix it”, “hang on” and “broken!”  I am amazed that she also has learnt which birds are the Robins in my garden!  She is so clever. Coralie had phoned in the morning to say she was going to walk over with Evan, so we walked up with Ellie in the buggy to meet Coralie at the shops.
We got a few bits in Sainsbury’s and then came back for lunch. Simon then took Ellie back to Sam before going to play in his barn.  Coralie stayed for the rest of the afternoon and dinner.  Evan was very good.  He can roll over now and he does at every opportunity.  He is very smiley and “talks” lots.
His Granddad taught him a new trick....... sticking out the tongue!  Simon was doing it while he was pushing him in the pram and Evan started doing it back.  It worked every time.  Simon would do it and then Evan would do it.  It was so funny.  I bet Coralie is real pleased with Granddad for that one!

In the evening I watched the Strictly Come Dancing show and really enjoyed it.  I am just waiting for the results show to come on.  I think John Sergeant may be saved again by the public.  If he isn’t then he will definitely be out as the judges are not going to save him!  He did better this week, but he is still hopeless. He is just so likeable though and for an old chap he is really trying.  I’ll let you know what happens!
Today has been fairly easy.  We got up quite late and Simon walked the dogs while I pottered around.  When he got back we had coffee while I did some research on printers.  Remember that my printer gave up last week right after we purchased ink for it? Typical! I wasn’t sure about going for another Epson but they do have the cheapest refills.   Dixie suggested an HP as she had trouble with Epson and she said the refills were cheap, but unfortunately they aren’t here in the UK.  They are amongst the dearest.
Anyway, I looked around and done lots of research, there were a few good Cannons which have reasonable prices, but in the end we decided to go for an all in one printer, scanner and copier. We have one of these downstairs but it is old and not often used because it is attached to an old printer and also because the ink costs a fortune.  Our logic was if we got one for my computer we could get rid of the old one.
We have ended up with an Epson, 3 in 1 which we got on a half price special offer, so it was a really good deal.  I have also sourced a company on the internet that sells the refill ink cartridges for just £5.04 each; I am going to stock up as they also have them on a 3 for 2 offer at the moment.
I have got it all installed and it seems to be working fine.  Hopefully next week I might find time to scan some old photos.  I have been meaning to for a while but the other scanner just wasn’t conveniently sited!
I did a few jobs this afternoon, but I have plenty still to do tomorrow!  All the normal stuff.  Simon has gone to his barn again this evening so I am going to try and catch up with a few of you now.
News Flash.  More controversy on Strictly!!!!!   John Sergeant is saved by the public vote again!!!  The judges are livid!  Cherie Lunghi was knocked out against Lisa Snowdon in the dance off.  It amazes me that the judges and some of the professionals don’t seem to realise that the more they go on about it, the more support they are inadvertently raising for John.
It is quite clear that he can’t really dance but the public like him and they are the ones voting.  If they really want it to be just a dance competition then they should cut out the public voting system and just have the judges decide, but then it would be a different programme.
The thing is, the majority of the British public won’t know the technicalities of these dances, so they will always be voting for either the person they like, or the one they think looks good, or like John the one that entertains them. That’s the way it is.  Go John!  One last thing........ I wouldn’t mind a few dance lessons from Anton Du Beck myself!  What a gent!
