How can it be that the first day of the year is already nearly over? 1/1/11 is practically gone forever. Tomorrow is Sunday. The school holidays are almost done. Simon goes back to work on Tuesday. It has gone so fast. I can’t recall if this coming term is a short one or long. Half term will be in February. It seems a long way off right now. Apparently there are 82 days until spring. Oh and Wendy there are 358 shopping days left until Christmas!
This week seems to have flown by. This time last week we were still on the big day and waiting anxiously for news of Lisa’s parents. We haven’t done that much really. Just had a lazy relaxing time mostly. Simon has been to his barn a few times and I have been reading books on my new Kindle. I just read “What Katy did” which is a children’s classic that I remember well from when I was young.
On Thursday we went to Leicester for Saskia’s birthday. We met her in town along with all of our family except Coralie and the boys. We had a lovely time although Saskia is not at all well. She has a nasty cold virus. We had a meal together in an Italian restaurant which was nice because we were all there but it was very pricey for what it was and the service was dreadful, extremely slow.
After the meal Josh, Charlotte, Sam and Lisa all went home but the rest of us went to the theatre to see The King and I. Saskia had got us tickets as our Christmas present. It was a very good show but extremely long... 3 hours! I was starting to get fidgety! We did enjoy it though.
Simon and I then spent the night in a hotel. We had booked it that morning as it was very foggy and we knew that we wouldn’t want to drive home in it. Josh was at home with the dogs so it worked out well.
Friday morning we had said that we would just pop in to Saskia before we came home. We ended up being there absolutely ages sorting out getting her water put on again. She had no water for 3 days. There had been a leak and they had simply turned the water off and told her nothing could be done until next week! It was becoming unsanitary! To cut a long story short we got on the case and before we left it had been mended and she had running water once more. There was a whole saga to it but I haven’t got the will to retell it all and I am sure you would be bored!
We had a quiet new years eve as always. Josh had gone out so there was just Simon and I at home. He watched a film and I read mostly. The high light was phoning my friend Cindy in Merika just before midnight and she was able to hear the fireworks going off here. The miracle of telephones!
Today we called round to see Coralie and the boys for a while. Simon took Evan out on the bike that we got him for Christmas. I must get some photos of him on it. I did have some of him opening it on Christmas day but you will recall that I have lost most of my Christmas photos because a nameless child formatted my card after I lent it to her!
Simon and I also rode 1 mile around the park in the pouring rain! Why you may ask? Well I’m not saying! We just did.
After lunch Simon went to his barn for a while. He had various new tools that he wanted to try out! It’s a man thing I guess! I was going to catch up on some chores but thought better of it and spent the afternoon messing around on here and reading! Simon came in with Chinese take away so it has all been good.
So that’s how this week has gone including this first day of the New Year. I haven’t made any resolutions; I never do. They are a recipe for failure. Actually to succeed I should make a resolution not to make any resolutions! That would work...I think....maybe.... that doesn’t work does it! LOL!
Anyway, a happy new year to you all. I can’t wait to see where it takes us all.
