What’s your favourite car? Hmm, not sure if I have a favourite car. I’m a girly, so perhaps my response should be a red one! I’m not much into cars. I think of them just as a means of getting from A to B. All the little sporty type numbers don’t really do it for me. They are too low to the ground and way too tiny; I would feel claustrophobic in one of them. They don’t seem safe either as you haven’t got much around you.
What kind of car do you actually drive? A Vauxhall Zafira, It’s just a year old this month and it’s a very nice car. It’s a 7 seater with a huge boot and bags of combinations on the seats so you can transport virtually anything. We have to have an estate because of the dogs. We have fixed dog bars in the back and the 3 of them travel very happily. They don’t go very far, only a few miles to their favourite walking spots. I find the Zafira a bit clunky on the gears compared to our previous car.
If you could drive any car you wished, what would you choose? Well before we had the Zafira we had a Citroen Xsara and I really liked that. I guess if I was buying a car that was just for me, I would need to research all the latest models but basically it would have to be relatively compact, but with 4 doors. I can’t bare 2 door cars. The doors are always really wide and that means they can be difficult to open in small spaces. I can’t travel in the back of a 2 door car either as I feel trapped.
I would like something smaller than the Zafira too, as I do find it rather large for me. I’m only 4 feet 11 inches tall so I have trouble seeing all the way to the back! Ideally I would have it in pink! No only joking, that would stand out a bit too much for my liking. Our Citroen was a metallic, yellowy gold colour and I liked that. I think if I could choose any colour it would either be a very bright metallic blue or it would be black. Black is quite classy.
Our Zafira is silver and they are just so common. It makes it hard to find in the car park. Coralie and I often lose cars in car parks. I think it is because we are usually chattering away when we get out that we don’t pay attention to where we have left it. Because we are both very short we can’t see over the rows and rows of cars to try and spot it, so we have to search up and down. Coralies car is a small black Ford, which makes it very hard to spot. Maybe we should put some kind of flag on top, so we could see it anywhere!
What would you name such a car? I think cars have genders and their gender depends on their colour! No really! Our golden Citroen was definitely a she, whereas our silver Zafira is male. Red cars will always be female, but blue cars would depend on the exact shade of blue! When they were little, our children used to give names to our cars, often based on some combination of the registration number. It’s not something that we have indulged in since. However.... let me think.......... I think our car would have to be called Max.
This reflects its ability to cram in the maximum number of people or items in the large adaptable interior. Max also sounds like a bit of a work horse and I think the Zafira fits the work horse ideal. It certainly isn’t a filly! So I’ll tell Simon he is to be called Max from now. (The car not Simon!) Simon of course will think that I have gone pottier than usual, but then he’s used to that!
