Catching up from last Thursday

I must be on a role this is my 4th blog of the day!  I have been working my half hour system today so I have had plenty of “me” time but also managed to get lots done.  I am just about caught up on everything now I think.  I even did some dusting today!  That is unheard of!
I have had a busy few days as you all know! It started last Thursday and apart from a few hours on Saturday I have been busy ever since so I was very behind with my jobs. I had Evan and Flynn on Thursday and Evan was a bit of a monkey so I was quite tired.  I was just thinking of having a bath and an early night when the call came to go over to Sam and Lisa’s house.
Simon was at the barn so I had to ring him and get him to come home.  While I was waiting I gathered together some clothes and bits and pieces that I would need. We got to them about 9.30pm and it was quite clear that things would not take long!  They left at 9.40pm for the 40 minute drive back to Peterborough where we had just come from.  It was a foul night with high winds and torrential rain so I was quite worried.
When I got the phone call less than an hour later I thought that Sam was just phoning to say they had reached the hospital safely!  I couldn’t believe it when he said it was all over and I had a new granddaughter!  That’s the way to have them!  LOL!  Mind you they did only just get to the hospital!
Sam came home about a half past three and we sat chatting until 5am!  Fortunately Ellie had stayed asleep.  I didn’t get much sleep though as she was awake at 6.30am and very excited that she had a new baby sister!  We left for the hospital about 8.30 am but when we got there they wouldn’t allow Ellie and I in as it wasn’t visiting time!
They have the most ridiculous rules.  Partners only in the morning!  We had managed to get in as far as the ward and Lisa knew we were there and got very distressed when she was told she couldn’t see Ellie.  She was threatening to pull the drip put of her arm so she could get up and walk out into the corridor.  At that point I picked Ellie up and took into the ward for a few minutes to see her Mum.
The staff were saying they were going to get security.  I was like, yeah ok you do that but by the time they get here we will be done.  My daughter in law is sobbing her heart out in there and all she wants is to see her daughter for 2 minutes.  It’s bloody ridiculous.  This is a maternity hospital they are not sick and ill here they have just had babies................... a perfectly normal life event.  I can’t be doing with rules when they are so ridiculous.  You would think they would have some compassion.  Poor Lisa was so upset which in turn upset Ellie.
Anyway we saw her new baby for 2 minutes and Lisa got a cuddle with Ellie.  I then took her and we walked over into the city centre to do a bit of shopping.  Presents for Jessica and new hairclips for Ellie.  We ended up having to get the bus home as there was no one who could pick us up.  I did ask Coralie but Flynn was asleep!
We had a lovely morning and Sam came to get us at lunch time so we could go and visit properly.  I gave that receptionist and a few midwives a glare I can tell you!  Ellie was over the moon with her new baby as you have all seen from the photos.  Simon came after school and we then took Ellie back home with us.
I was exhausted!  I even went to bed early!  On Saturday we did a bit of shopping and then Simon went to his barn. I had planned to do housework but was just too tired.
On Sunday it was Evan and Flynn’s baptism.  They were baptised at the local Catholic Church of Sacred Heart.  It is a small chapel inside the school where all 5 of my children went.  The school that Evan and Flynn will attend too when the time comes.
It was a very nice service with lots of family members there including Wendy and Nick who are Coralie’s God parents.  (Many of you know Wendy...she is my cousin).  We all went back to Coralies house afterwards which was a bit of a squeeze as there were about 30 of us!  Luckily though with that number I was able for the most part to successfully avoid my in-laws!  LOL! In typical fashion they actually missed the service because they were late! They are always late.  They were late for Verity’s wedding too.  I think it is actually bad manners...........................let’s not get me started on them!
Wendy and Nick!  I did try to get a good photo!
I think we all had a lovely time.  The children were very good and played nicely and the adults enjoyed catching up over sandwiches and cake.  Simon and I and our children also enjoyed catching up at the school with a lady who taught Sam and Coralie and was there the whole time our children were. She said she thought our family had all done very well which is always nice to hear.
We did try to get a photo of all 4 grandchildren while they were together but as you will see from my photos when I post then it was not entirely successful!  Jessica was happy enough about it but the others took it in turns to be difficult!
Everyone enjoyed seeing the new baby and of course Coralie and Johns new house.  Once it was time to leave Josh and Charlotte asked is if we wanted to go for a meal with them at a local pub.  In the end Verity and Steve came too and my sister and her husband and my Dad.  That was really nice.
Monday was my day this week for looking after the boys.  It was a dreadful day and didn’t stop raining once.  I was drowned by the time I had walked there and got drowned again on the walk back.  The boys were both very good.
So there you go that catches you up with what I have been doing and why I was so behind with my jobs.  It has been a long day today as Simon had a parents evening and then he went straight from school to his barn to do some work on a little electric car that he is racing on Saturday.  That meant I didn’t have to cook dinner.  However I am now starving!  It is nearly 10.30pm so he should be in any minute and he promised to bring me a big Mac.
Tomorrow I should have plenty of time to myself and I think I will do some family history research.   I'll put all the baptism photos in an album too.
