The river that flows through Peterborough is called the river Nene. It is a very picturesque river. The nearest part to us is where it flows through Ferry Meadows Country park, which is also the site of the Orton Mere lock which you can see in the 2 photos below.

The next photo shows the river were it flows through the city center.
While I was searching for the photos I came across an article in todays Daily Mail newspaper which says that fish stocks are low and swans are being brutally killed by Polish migrants pillaging the river. Peterborough has one of the fastest growing multi-ethnic communitys in the country. This is so sad. You can see the article here: River Nene
