This really is going to be a mega catch up!!! I have missed 7 days and today makes 8! So lets get on with it.
- 28.Your work place. As most of you know I do not have a job outside of my home. I am a housewife. Therefore my house is my place of work and the room I spend most time in is the kitchen. The first photo looks to the front of the house and the second photo looks to the back.
1. Something Welsh. (Today is St David’s Day). I did search the house but I couldn't find anything Welsh. I didn't even have a leek in the fridge and if I had it would have been an East Anglian one. I did suddenly think of Welsh lamb and hopefully checked out the lamb chops that I have in the freezer but they said British in large letters.
So I have found this on the web. Apparently back in 2007 our government were considering adding the Welsh dragon to the middle of the Union Jack. The reason was that the Welsh people felt that the Union Jack did not represent them in any way. The Union Jack comprises of the red cross of St George which represents England (+). The red diagonal cross of St Patrick which represents Ireland (x) and the white cross on the blue back ground of St Andrew which represents Scotland ( x ). So the Welsh have a point!

2.Something painted. (Suggested by Jenny) This is another one of my Dads paintings. I have lots of them. He took up painting when he retired. Sadly he doesn't any longer do it.
- 3.Something sticky. (Suggested by Vicki) I saw that some of you went for honey. Simon loves honey but I'm not so keen. I only ever have it in milk when I am unwell. I couldn't eat it just on bread or something. What I do like is golden syrup. It still comes in the same jars that it did when I was a child.
- 4. A musical instrument. (Suggested by Mickey) This is the only musical instrument in our house. It is a Ocarina and either belongs to Saskia or Josh I think. It came from Spain. At one time they learnt to play them in school. I used to have a recorder somewhere too but it seems to have disappeared! It is the only thing that I can play although I can read music.
- 5. Fancy dress costume. (Suggested by Summer) I had to laugh when I read all your blogs for this theme and realised that all you Merikans thought fancy dress meant something smart that you wear to go somewhere posh!
I knew exactly what I was going to do for this theme. Many years ago we went to a holiday camp with my parents and my sister and her children. Those places have lots of activities for children and one of them is a fancy dress competition. As there were 7 children, my 5 and my sisters 2 we dressed them up as the 7 dwarves. They won first prize. I have a wonderful photo of it. My nephew Ben was Grumpy and he really played the part! Sam and Ben were at that age were it was beneath them to be in a fancy dress competition! Sadly this is not a digital photo and I can't scan it because the scanner is hooked up to the non working PC!
So, I have found some photos of Saskia when she worked for Disney. As well as dancing she would take a turn being various characters. Jessie from Toy Story was her favourite. Minnie mouse was a pain as the costume is so hot inside.
6. What you have on your feet right now. Normally when I am at home indoors I will have bare feet. I recently happened to mention to my Dad how cold I get when I am on my PC which is on our middle landing. Next thing I know he has sent me a pair of fleecy lined Nordic slipper boots and a snuggle wrap blanket thing with sleeves. My feet look enormous in these but they are warm.
There, that catches me up , I just have to do today’s theme and I will be all up to date! So, today’s theme is: 7. A postage stamp.
Well several of my British friends have already posted photos of our normal everyday stamps so I thought I would show you something slightly different. I used to collect stamps as a child and again in my mid to late twenties. I still have all the albums. A few people have commented that our stamps are boring. That is true of our every day stamps but we do actually produce some very nice commemorative ones. Usually 5 or 6 times a year. There will of course be new ones issued to celebrate the marriage of Price William to Catherine. They have not been released yet so instead I thought I would show you the ones that were issued back in 1981 to commemorate the marriage of Prince Charles to Lady Diana Spencer.
I also wanted to show you some other stamps which I actually have in a frame on the wall of my upstairs landing. They are a set of 14 stamps depicting the stations of the cross. They are very colourful and come from Palestine. They are real postage stamps.
The themes for the coming week, which I hope to be able to keep up with are:
8. Something smooth. (Suggested by Vicki and Jenny)
9. Something rough. (Suggested by Jenny)
10. Your favourite comfort food. (Suggested by Mickey)
11. Your favourite type of Dog. (Crufts dog show begins today!)
12. Something cold. (Suggested by Vicki and Jenny)
13. Something hot. (Suggested by Vicki and Jenny)
Apologies for the crappy photos but my lap top doesn't have any photo shop software. Apologies also for the odd formatting but I did this in Open Office and I am clearly not used to it yet!
