End of another week.

That's another week gone!  It's all down hill to Christmas!!  I haven't really blogged since Wednesday, except 2 quickies. On Thursday, I caught up with housework.  On Friday I did more housework in the morning and then in the afternoon I went swimming again with Coralie and baby Evan.
We really need to find out what we should be doing with him as neither of us are sure.  he enjoyed it again this week and we let him go right under twice.  At one point he sort of turned himself  from his back to his front and he seemed to really like being on his front even though he kept getting mouthfuls of water!
We had been mainly floating him on his back and he would kick his legs, but my goodness you should have seen him kicking away when he was on his front.  He moved his arms more too.  So we are wondering if that is a better way round to hold him?  We are trying to find out.  They do baby swimming lessons at our pool but there is a waiting list over a year long and Coralie wants to turn him into a water baby before that!
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day so we went to the garden centre in the morning and got some more winter pansies to brighten up the rest of my pots and hanging baskets.  When we got back Sam was already here with Ellie so the planting had to wait.  Simon went with Sam to pick up a car in Cambridge and Ellie stayed here with us.
She was a very good girl as always and Saskia and I took her up to the local shops and had a browse around.  She had chocolate buttons and a finger of fudge, but, SHHHH, don't tell Mummy and Daddy!  Nanny is allowed to spoil her.
On the way back we walked through the park behind our house and we let her walk.  It took about 45 minutes to get home!  It's only about an 8 minute walk normally!  She did have fun though.  We saw lots of squirrels and Ellie had a look through each back gate!  She is so cute.
Today we have been out most of the day so nothing much has been done here.  We took Ellie to the exotic pet refuge at Crowland which was having an open day.  It gave Sam and Lisa a chance to get on with cutting their hedge back.  Ellie enjoyed herself and walked around for a good while before we resorted to carrying her and finally the pushchair.
It's a strange place, very run down and really in need of funds.  It's run as a charity so gets no government funding.  They have about 400 animals and birds that they rescue from all kinds of situations.  A fair number have injuries.  We saw monkeys missing tails and limbs and a large bird with only one foot.  I hate seeing all these sad animals caged up, but then if it wasn't for these people they would have been killed, probably in horrid circumstances. Check out the website here: http://www.exoticpetrefuge.org.uk/

Nanny, Ellie and one of the ponies.  There are more photos in my September album.
We saw lots of different birds and they have many owls and birds of prey.  We saw a lot of different Monkeys, a Lynx and lots of Snakes, Lizards and giant Tortoises, even an Alligator!  Ellie was quite taken with a very a large monitor lizard which looked like a giant version of her Scooby, who is a comodo dragon, or something like that.
Sam has had Scooby about 4 years and she lives in a specially made tank.  She comes out regularly and Ellie is quite good with her although she has started to bang on the glass which scare Scooby.  She has also worked out how to open the cabinet underneath which has all the plugs and switches which keep the environment in the tank just right,  This is not good!!

Anyway, we had a lovely day and the weather was good again too. We got all our pots and baskets redone yesterday and had a general tidy round.  Simon is just doing some school work ready for tomorrow and I am going to go and have a bath while the dinner cooks.  We are having traditional roast beef and all the trimmings tonight.  Saskia is making a pineapple upside down cake for dessert with cream.  Tomorrow she is off to University!  Joshua still has one more week to go.
